C&C, role-playing, replayabilty, simulation.

This particular Dark Brotherhood only accept those that have slain >=50 innocents. They really are Dark.

They are murderous role-player bastard-exclusive.

Of course, as the good guy you could then decide to start slaying everyone because you just cannot bear to accept that you cannot everything in one playthrough, but then if you do this there should be consequences elsewhere.

You can just steal the identity of another member, or of a new recruit, disguise yourself. If its truly open world then there should be a way.

So what if you instead decide to slay the dark brohood themselves, should there still be a way to join them after that? Players shouldn't be able to have everything, do everything, see everything in one playthrough. If you can your not playing much of a role in a living, breathing world, the game is blandly designed to pander to you, the world is clearly revolves around you.

Of course, I only argue unforseen consequences as vital as rare occurrences, just to spice things up and appear more organic rather than designed. For the most part you do want to stick to Sawyer's words of wisdom above though.

No, you are wrong, an open world should try to emulate reality somewhat. if you got people infiltrating organizations in real life, you should be able to in a game, it is a different kind of thrill and will enrich your game.

So you can have your cake and eat it too in reality? I don't disagree with your suggestion to infiltrate the brohood, but it should be more difficult, more resource intensive than the other option, as this is the faction that is dedicated to the murderous bastard role. Both gameplay and story should play out differently depending on the role you play, not just story.
