1. There is no time limit.

2. That's pretty much how karma works. I do not think it affects prices in shops, though, but I might be wrong.

Ok, after having played this game for years and years without ever taking it all the way to the end, this year's the year.

This torch business mentioned in the OP seems to be affecting me too, tho. Strangely, the game started off with me being able to take torches off walls and have them go into my inventory. But a reload at one point seems to have bugged out my save file. Lost all my torches and (seemingly) my gold and now Borrowing torches doesn't add to inventory.

Edit. Weird. Even a reinstall with a brand new save doesn't seem to correct this. Was I mistaken before? Was I going around borrowing every torch in sight thinking I was adding to my torch count?

Should torches be added to your inventory though? When I was playing taking a torch off the wall had the same effect as lighting one. Which makes sense, you can't stockpile torches that are already burning.

Yeah, that makes total sense. I must just be misremembering. I could've sworn I was stockpiling torches by pulling them off walls, while at the same time wondering why it was so easy to hoard a resource that the game makes you purchase in stores. I probably just always had a shit ton of torches from combat so the issue never came up, and I never bothered to check.

5. No. Ultima 5 is the best Ultima in many ways. If you can stand the old interface at all then you should persevere.
