Soul of War Inspired by Dungeons & Dragons

Be careful - this game is a scam and the author is simply a troll. I've been trying to play this game for a while now after purchasing it for 10 USD and I've send report about 14 bugs that you can see in first 5 hours of gameplay. Author simply trolls in facebook conversation dismissing it all and laughing people in the face.

Here's proofs with videos. This is message I've sent to the author hoping to help the development but it seems there won't be any development at all cause author gives an impression of having good time while scamming people.

1. If all enemies and party members start in stealth then no one can do anything:

As seen in video above - if everyone starts fight stealthed then there is no way to de-stealth and you're stuck and forced to load a save.

2. Strange encounter on the overmap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9YVLKDTxDU enemy NPC have no models and are invisible.

3. Enemies aggro range: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq_iLgt5ixo It seems like the ghosts in the bottom and shadow captain should be two separate encounters yet everyone aggroes when player party approaches despite being so far away.
Here you can see aggro problem again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t82RbnJtVA there's also pathfinding problems. As you see the goblins here aggro from... like far away deep in the dungeon and try to walk to wall to get to the player party.

4. After defeating Hobgoblin boss whole screen goes blurry and it seems like there should be some message here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unDom8v-jBk but player just doesn't see it. It's all just blurr and you can click couple times for it to go away but nothing shows on screen.

5. Haste doesn't add extra attack.

There's similar silly stuff happening with AI all the time. Enemy barbarians using rage while being disabled via spells, I even saw a evil cleric HEALING (eg dealing damage) to HIS OWN ALLIED undead.

7. you cannot walk over enemy corpses - which means if you're blocked by dropping corpses you're stuck and need to load the game.

8. When you're doing Kill ogre quest the farmer tells he gives you 800 gold while really he only gives 250

9. Scroll of Raise Dead - does nothing. Simply doesn't work at all.

When you try to level your cleric to level 9 there is only one spell available (raise dead) and since you NEED to select at least 2 spells to level up... you CAN't get past that level.

11. Characters CANNOT do more than one attack (two if they have two weapon fighting). No matter how much BAB you'll have you're stuck with 1 or 2 attacks if you have two weapons. This makes further portion of the game unplayable...

This is what I've managed to find out only after couple hours with the game - it makes a good impression of being a finished product but once you'll start playing and speak a bit with the author you'll realize it was made as a scam. It becomes unplayable couple hours after the start. Shame cause it does good work at pretending to be something nice for people looking 3.5 experience.

I thought at first cause of this is in early beta stage and hoped it all will be fixed and game developped further but author when contacted claims none of the bugs exist. He even heckled me saying that I dare to complain after getting game for free (I paid 10 USD for it):

But according to the author 10 USD is "It's like free" cause game costed 50 previously...

I'd reccomend moderators to take down this topic after couple days once people get familliar with my post - to protect further people from being scammed.

Man you lie so much! no one is scamming. you asked me to give the game to you for $10 because it was $39 you cried to me cause you couldnt afford it. then you wrote me like every 10 minutes wanting me to walk you through the game, over 200 people have bought the game and played it in 3 weeks. its a great game and its not a scam! i hate coming here because you will get slamed for anything. i distance myself from this nightmare place!

Hi there - I was just checking your game but current price is way beyond my capabilities (probably way to high to try out a random tittle like that for most eu countries. Maybe some US people can spend such amounts like that but I don't) So anyway I was wondering would you accept something more reasonable? sounds good to me - like I've said I do want to support a developper - I'm an dev myself but I work mostly on online interfaces for database projects so I know working on something solo is a huge task - I imagine this game must've take you lots of time. It's just for some countries 50 usd is a pricewall most pepople won't pass.

So basically I've started a fight on stealth with my rogue and bard vs hellhound and everyone is sitting on stealth unable to attack each other/leave stealth. In video you can see me spamming space but it seems like there's either no spot rolls happening at all or somehow there's no chance for anyone to detect anyone. This essentially makes it so you're stuck in combat you can't leave. Maybe some "destealth" action could fix it or make spot work (I have maxed perception on my rogue but he just doesn't seem to be able to detect that hound no matter how many turns I wait)

Well, there are about 18 moongates,have you even made it to the other world? you will meet a guy part of the main quest that teleports you to the burning lands
you must go to the burning lands before you can continue the main quest.

I imagine it will only happen if you're playing full stealth party and encounter stealth enemy - basically rolls on detection/stealth happen only once at the start of encounter and that means if everyone is stealthed then you're essentially forced to load a save cause no one can attack/destealth

also - haste doesn't seem to give extra attack

It doesn't seem like something that should happen. As you see enemies don't have any models visible.

Two encounters seem to fire as one despite how far away those enemy npc-s are. It actually happened before in some dungeon where my party entered a level and aggro system made both closest NPC attack the party but there was also another group completly far away on different side of the deeper corridor that also somehow joined the fight walking through half a dungeon to get to my party

Hey - could you maybe advise me... cause it seems to me that game essentially ends after 3-4 hours of playing it with nowhere to go. I'm in first region managed to get some xp to get my party to lvl 5-6 and now there isnt any place I can go further. what you have in your image Too high level is where you need to go, man you cant grind your levels until you make the burning lands, the game is not designed to breeze through it.
you can grind later on there is places with random battles

you do need to know how to play d&d my friend, this game will not hold your hand. you can trade companions to do certain things. cause you have a roogue that is bad ass in one fight does not mean he will be good in another one.

Hey - would you have some time today? I coudn't catch you up yesterday. I went through all the start of the game again with different team and just can't go through encounter in the mountains no matter what I try. It really seems like game ends there with nowhere to go further. Take a look at how this encounter goes:

You can't kill those mages cause of mirrors will always negate any damage unless you'll kill them in turn 1 - berserkers deal crazy damage and can 1 shot you with a crit. Even with weak enemy AI huring his own allies I see no chance to go past this encounter - and there's 2 extra ghosts aggroeing from further away on top of it

let me know what am I missing

Hey - are you sure you uploaded correct game version to Itch.io? it seems to be bugged all over the place. Cleric cannot progres past level 8, characters can't do more than 1 attack per round no matter the attack bonus they have. I have improved two weapon fighting rogue that can do 2 attacks instead of 4 - it's completly unplayayble right now

cause there is only a single spell available for clerics at level 4
I've made into burning lands abusing enemy AI - essentially I got lucky after trying to go through that encounter. Enemy mages killed themself and I managed to progress

Yea, it is pretty buggy. Lot's of issues, lock-ups, can't run on some systems, strange interactions with things (yea, save often). But, I kind of expected that going in, and frankly, am having a blast with the game anyway. With how complex the D&D rules systems are (I'm seeing large dev struggle with the much simpler 5e ruleset implementation), and basically one guy putting this together, I am impressed that it is even playable.

First of all - this guy wanted a game, and not the crap what your offer is. You made the price to be 50$ to exploit peoples interest and trust - fullblown RPG releases made through years by whole development studios are often cheaper than 50$. Actually this is what I suspected it was when I saw the price - but was willing to give you a benefit of the doubt and try it out.

I took time and effort trying to help you fix serious and gamebreaking bugs recording videos on youtube, making screenshots and describing each case with great detail- something any normal solo developper would accept with aprecieation but not you.

You have proofs of bugs in each video and screenshot yet you dismiss them telling they don't exist (despite having proofs literally before your eyes) and aswer stuff like "this is 3.5 git gud".

Like I've said previously - the game does make good impression of being early alpha stage and something promising so average buyers impression can be something like "ok cool concept - lets see where it goes" but thing is your crap needs months of work to be playable. Problem is with your attitude towards people that spent their free time playing buggy game trying to help you out. If instead heckling me about not understanding 3.5 dnd you'd admitt that this is early beta release and worked on fixing bugs you got so well described and documented I woudn't even post a thing here. With the responces you've given you showed you are a troll and a scammer lying to people about your product state and refusing to do the honest work fixing serious problems with it - even with free help from a guy that decided to betatest it for you.

I don't have a character with more than one attack, with the exception of a Barbarian using one of the exotic weapons from the first town's shop. He gets both attacks, granted it comes off the 'single attack' option, and both hit the same target. I don't know if that is RAW or not for 3.5 (I mostly 2nd ed, and 5E, where it wouldn't be). But, this would be like the smallest of the issues I have regarding bugs. After totally failing with a bad build, and party mix of a Monk, Cleric, Fighter and Sorcerer, I started over with a group based on OP summons. Druid, Sorcerer, Ranger, and threw in that Barb to sit back and watch. Because summons last forever, until you rest, I think I have only camped twice up to level 6.

Look, the game has a lot of issues that are kind of game-breaking. I'm not saying it doesn't. I've turned several in via e-mail to the dev, who has been very responsive. I've written and supported enough software to not expect immediate fixes to some things. (example, I can't get the game to run unless it is set to run as Admin on my desktop, and my surface go simply won't run it without crashing once you try to start the game). Your infinite summons show up in random places when combat starts, often on the other side of walls or terrain where they can't get to the action. The 'stuck at the start of combat' issue happens frequently. Everyone once in a while, a sneak attack from a pet hurt a ghost that it shouldn't. A lot of the feats, that I assume are included for completeness probably don't' have much of a place in a cRPG. The overland map is not clear where you can and can't go, until a fair amount of trial and error. The way quests are tracked and logged via inventory items is either quirky, or an ingenious workaround for some other system limitation. Either way, it bugs me because I am one of those players that like to keep my inventory clean. There is no help manual to explain how to bind an action to quick slots (I had to figure that out from reading comments here and on FB). I could go on and on with small issues. In general, it doesn't' have the polish you would expect from an AAA title.

And, despite that, I still enjoy it immensely and impressed that a single dev studio put this together. The comments here are showing a lot of immaturities (on both parties), and a lot of snobbish entitlement and name-calling from some of the 'reviewers'.

Hi there - I was just checking your game but current price is way beyond my capabilities (probably way to high to try out a random tittle like that for most eu countries. Maybe some US people can spend such amounts like that but I don't) So anyway I was wondering would you accept something more reasonable? I don't mean to ask for a freebie but 5 bucks is best I can offer right now. Maybe I can toss something more if I like it but I woudn't pay more than 10 for it no matter what.

Yea the weapon you speak of can have two attacks cause it's considered double weapon (for two weapon fighting line of feats). I haven't played with summons - tested classical party of Rogue Bard and Cleric. The design was I believe there to be multiple attacks per round as in normal DnD standard depending on BAB etc. Thing is it doesn't work (author claims it does despite having bugged gameplay right in front of his eyes) - which makes further portion of game unplayable (you'll see it too soon enough)

I kinda had a simillar impression to yours Bhel but it's the talk with dev that made me suspicious. You're right in that the game is unique representation of 3.5 ruleset few games have but the bugs you'll later encounter aren't "kinda game-breaking" - they literally break the game and make you unable to play it - which shoudn't be a case when author claims it's a "released" version with some minor bugs. Cerainly not in a game that this scammer tried to sell at 50$.

Thing is when you show the dev such bugs with proofs on the video and detailed description and in response you get negation, neglect and smartmouth comments over how you're supposedly don't understand 3.5 DnD in a game "you recieved for free" (when you paid for it) then realization is pretty clear.
