It will be drm free for if i try it (fuck Uplay). But looks like this is the best the real time sellouts Obshitian can do in TB.
I don't blame you. I finally bought a Ubisoft game (MMX of course) after boycotting their crap for so many years, then I got fucked over by Uplay. If not paying for a game means that I can avoid that Uplay shit in the future, then so be it.

Will this game even have Uplay anyway @all? The steam page doesn't mention Uplay (yet).

Its Ubisoft we are talking about. They wont miss a chance to pimp their spyware on any of their releases. And steam generally obfuscates 3rd party DRM to trap people into buying more shit. Gaben isn't doing this out of the goodness of his heart after all.

Sounds like Matt and Trey got to pull rank.

Not what I meant.

If the company you work for suddenly lays off your spouse just because I think you'd have concerns about staying.
So they're a package deal? That's ridiculous.

Sounds like Matt and Trey got to pull rank.

I'm not sure if it's that.

I suspect that there are various loopholes that allow producers at Ubisoft to avoid their company's own DRM policy. It may have something to do with where the project started. Rayman Origins, for instance, seems to have been planned to be console-exclusive at first, and may have managed to dodge the Uplay bullet due to this. And South Park of course wasn't originally an Ubi title at all.

I rented it a few times. It's...weird, it was clearly shitty in nearly all aspects but I wanted to see more. Maybe it was the weird difficulty spikes, almost silent ambient music, relentless enemies and the always foggy horizon, which combined to create a creepy atmosphere even though you were usually holding a piss-filled snowball.

Of course, the only other South Park options were a Mario Kart clone (which may be good, as it was always rented when I got to the store) and a Jeopardy clone with 90's American celebrity trivia (which no one rented, could've been good but I guess kids were scared of being stuck with a shitty unplayable game for the entire weekend)

Wait.

People are talking about buying this? Have I missed something shown or mentioned which has made this suddenly appealing or....?

Will Obsidian also be getting royalties or did they just receive a flat sum for developing South Park: Fart Simulator 2000?
