I can see with the rtwp. First off, I think that is super lame. I can deal with it, though, if it is just one player. With BG it gets ridiculous, though, as an example.

If people just said "I like combat where I don't have to think much" that would be one thing, but the idiocy where they talk about it actually being more tactical than turnbased combat is pretty sad....

The real problem I have with it is when people say it's faster than turn based. It's only faster when everything is scripted at which point the player is doing nothing. However, a round is still taking 6 seconds minimum no matter what the player does. If the player decides to move his guys around, it's going to take longer. If he's going to have them cast spells, that time gets longer. If he's going to have a few of them drink potions, that takes longer.

Unfortunately I think fallout and a couple of notorious games actually game it that reputation. I guess that programmers and artists don't get the idea that an animation has to be synched up to the actual time it takes...rats and zombies should not get 45 second turns to move, and there is no need for AI (especially bad AI) to spend forever ticking away with each move.

If you can’t get to 2+2=4 or your own, I’m not going to hold your fucking hand and walk you through why it equals 4, I’m going to call you stupid and walk you through why you are stupid. Stupidity should not be subsidized.
You know, you win. I've decided your method for handling debate is far more evolved. So, let's play it your way and leave it at this: your foaming at the mouth makes me feel that you are as stupid as the people you accuse. And rather than continue to engage, I think it's best just to write you off & be done with it. And that should please us both, I'm sure.

Check the options menu. You can adjust the animation speed for combat in Fallout.

I know, but it's first impressions people go by. It is not jst a fallout thing by any means, either, though the AI would take forever for me when I first got fallout 2 for some reason.

You are taking this far to seriously. Why are you trying to make me feel bad? RT w/ P might be your favorite system, but in no land besides crazy blind land could it ever be seen as being more strategic, tactical, or involved as TB. What is the better way to handle combat is the area where opinion comes in. What you value in combat or a game. I like TB. TB also happens to factually be more strategic and tactical. RT w/ P happnes to much less so. I love you, will you marry me?
