Like you not buying that one copy is really gonna matter.

Besides, SR2 is too good of a game to miss because you have Starforce sand in your vagina.

A web magazine gave this as a final paragraph and gave the game 71%. Other than the bit about it won't sell well (presumably because it is from a small publisher so won't get good scores) I think this paragraph says at least 81%. It's the sort of thing that is said when a game is considered a hit. This game seems to have been marked down solely because the reviewer had an expectation the game would not sell huge numbers. Is that a reviewers job now? To decide a score based on how well a game will sell? Based on the scores given to bland so called AAA titles, maybe it is now! Another nail in the coffin for PC gaming thanks to reviewers.

Quote:"Something just grabs you and keeps you there. Maybe it's the sense of humour (a paragraph in the manual cheekily explains away any translation errors by basically saying, "It's the future, that's how they talk now"). Maybe it's the hidden layers of depth. Maybe it's the amount of freedom you have to play any way you want. Maybe it's just very, very good game design.

Whatever it is, Space Rangers isn't going to break any sales records and may not even stay on the shelves very long. But if you play it you will enjoy it, and you can't really ask for more than that"

This is a fantastic game! Don't worry about Starforce, this is a new version and no reported problems have been posted anywhere that I can see. If it was causing problems it would be all over the web as normal.

Do yourself a favour and take a chance. You'll be well rewarded. Over and over!

I have noticed a LOT of shitty oblivion reviews that read far worse than any SR2 review which then give it some big score. Seems very odd to me....

a crack that stops starforce from being installed? That would be a wicked cool crack.

Alright, I finally got it, installed it, ran the SF remover, and used the crack from GCW to let me take the DVD out of the drive. I still get a little Starforce popup saying that I should put the DVD in the drive, but I can just click OK and the game loads anyway. Unfortunately, the program is still reinstalling the Starforce drivers every time I launch it, even though they aren't doing anything to force me to keep the DVD in the drive.

I've had no perceivable problems with my computer, drives, etc.

Even if it's crackable, buying it and cracking it is still buying it. The makers of this game won't get any money from me. I won't even pirate it. It's probably not even that good; just look at the reviews. Lots of decent reviews, but few reviews give it a 90% or more. I don't have time to play sub 90% games now.

If a game that isn't by a major label gets about 60-70 then it's pretty good.

The game is fucking fantastic.

I'd really like to play this, but I don't want Starforce to cause me to have to reformat, so I don't get to play it. And if people are lying about it messing up their systems just because they're mad that they can't pirate it, damn them.

I doubt they are lying. XP is really pretty overcomplicated and this is something I could easily see happening on it; at the least, it is very plausible....

Just get reloaded's crack, copy it over the game's .exe file BEFORE you run the game the first time.

That way, starforce won't even be installed in your computer. (It's only installed when you run the not cracked game executable).

Ha! Starforce made me get to know more about the piracy scene, as it forced me to search cracks. The irony...

Ha, I just read that Restricted Area comes with Starforce. So I'm guessing I have it on my system already, and it hasn't done much since I just burned a batch of audio discs with no problem. Yay!

I hate how GameSpot does their scores. The gameplay got a 9, so uh, shouldn't the game get a 9 then?

I mean look at this:
The Good: Addictive, fast-paced space-exploration, trading, and combat game; did we also mention that you can make pizzas, govern planets, figure out how to waste time in prison, battle robots, take intelligence tests, and do other off-the-wall tasks?; dynamic universe and randomly generated galaxies mean incredible amounts of replayability; colorful graphics that run well on older systems.
Sounds great to me, right?
The Bad: Slightly steep learning curve; text-heavy portions of the game can be tough to figure out thanks to weird translation.
Oh no! I might have to READ? Fuck that shit, man, let's drop that score down 9 points and play some Oblivion.

They seem to go on and on about how good the game is in the review, and they barely mention how bad it is, in fact, they only say the translation could use a bit of work. So why such unjustly low score? To make it look like they still have an "edge" and not give out BJs to every game coming out?

I just don't understand. It's like the opposite of all the Oblivion reviews. Give a game a lower score than it should be getting, but never explain why. They might as well use a completely absurd rating scale. "This game gets 4002342 boogaloos of out 43 penguin popsicles!"
