I really like the concept, although the first screenshot looks hilariously bad. The concept itself sounds like something you would like to explore in a longer game rather than a DLC. A sort of Silent Hill but without the ghosts.

It'll probably be too short and rushed to be able to deliver anything interesting, but who knows, we'll see.

So...toxic fumes from an airconditioner is 'ridiculous' but supermutants, ghouls, radscorpions, deathclaws, mutated appendages growing out of you etc. etc. (about 90% of Fallout canon stuff) is not?

:retarded:

I know that there is a need to hate everything, but Jesus!

Yes it is not stupid................ because their ventilation system didn't released toxic gases in cities.

C'mon don't tell that doesn't sound as an awful new gen popawriting.

Well air conditioners spread Legionnaires disease and other bacteria, so why couldn't something break inside the system and create a poisonous cocktail explainable by 'Science!' that then spreads out?

goddammit, i was gonna post that.

oh well, its set in Sierra Madre, maybe someone who knows what that region looks like can explain if toxic gases can build up there or not.

I don't know much about Fallout, but I am curious as to what is the decade of technology in these games? Are they all the same technological era across 1-New Vegas?

not sure what you mean, but its 2077 era technology but with a never-ending 1950's touch and lots of SCIENCE!

but i would rather have seen Fallout being set in a alternative 1970's/1980's instead of way off into the future but with oldschool style.

i never really liked that "never-ending 1950" style they made into fallout, i mean, come on, the same style of clothing and whatnot for some 100 years?
Pretty sure Van Buren was supposed to have civilization move on a bit but we all know Interplay thought BOS would be a better idea to appeal to console gamers :x

Unless properly maintained (frequently cleaned), a/c systems can cause all kinds of health hazard issues, considering that the air is 90% recycled and once things go wrong (like toxic molds, for example), the a/c will "circulate the spores very efficiently, greatly facilitating their ability to reproduce."

Air ducts can easily get clogged with dirt and dust or even contaminated by toxins if moisture is allowed to build up.

In the last 40 years, polyvinyl chloride plastic (PVC) has become a major building material. Global vinyl production now totals over 30 million tons per year, the majority of which is directed to building applications, furnishings, and electronics.
...

Because vinyl wall coverings form a barrier impermeable to moisture, they encourage the growth of molds on wall surfaces beneath the vinyl, particularly in buildings where air conditioning or heating systems produce significant temperature and humidity differentials between rooms and wall cavities. Some molds that grow beneath vinyl produce toxic substances that are released into indoor air and are suspected causes of severe human health problems. Numerous liability suits are active on the link between vinyl-produced molds and respiratory and neurological symptoms among exposed persons. Vinyl has been cited as the interior building material most likely to facilitate the growth of these molds.
Grow the molds and circulate these toxins for a few hundred years in a closed environment and you'd have a minor ecological disaster.

I can't say that I'm excited about exploring a casino resort, even if it has the toxic fumes, but complaining about the toxic thing is kinda silly.

here is a town in California called Sierra Madre too- they filmed invasion of the body snatchers there.

Yes and its on the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains.

Also there was a The Sierra Madre Villa Hotel but was torn down in 1923, it seem to been closer to Pasadena.

However Chris Avallone says Sierra Madre was a casino and located in the Mojave that is strange to say the least, also we are supposed to pick up a faint broadcasting signal (like The Pitt and O:A) that makes things even more limited as there is really nothing north, south, east or west of Vegas that I can see being used besides Laughlin/Bullhead City.

well it is a alternative reality, maybe a casino town named Sierra Madre could have been built from the 1950's and onward?

That meme flew straight over my head. Is it supposed to be an 'I'm bemused' thing, or is 'Christina Hendricks is aware of the size of her breasts' itself relevant to the thread?

"I'm bemused about this pointless argument" and just wanted an excuse to post Christina Hendricks :D

As VD pointed out, the toxic air premise isn't any retarded than any of of the existing stuff in Fallout-lore already.

Considering the Sierra Madre never open up that means the town had to exist before it that limits to were can it placed, it was even narrowed down to the Mojave that further limits were can it be placed.

North of Vegas is really a no-go, West is Death Valley so its also a no-go as East is the Colorado River and only Mesquite that I guess works as I already mentioned the alternatives South.

Also I am limiting myself to Clark and not looking at the rest of Nevada.
