I swear I was looking to Starfield to save us from woke shit that is BG3 but it turned out even worse and it massively backfired for them I just don't understand what they are thinking

It is pretty bad. So far all important people are women or black people. I ran into 4 white men of any import. One was Marshal in cowboy city whose ass you save at first opportunity, then town mayor who does nothing of import and two guys in Constellation. Younger one seem to be autistic and older one is some stuck up british dude. Both are unimportant.

I suck at shooters so for me it's good

tho I did beat FO4 on survival where even at high levels you could still die in one hit, not looking for this kind of experience for my first playthrough tho

I am also playing on Normal because I am playing with a controller. It is pretty faceroll still, I might raise difficulty.
But I am playing it as a aRPG so it is about looting and leveling, not about hard combat.

I think some of issues with the handcrafted NPCs is that to make the facial animations look more realistic they've really emphasized nasolabial folds and forehead wrinkles on some of the characters that otherwise have attractive underlying models. It's not 'bad' per se but it ages the characters a lot, which is fine for someone like Sarah Morgan (she looks to me like a well preserved woman in her late 30s, which is an appropriate age given her role) but it's weird when it's on an otherwise young face.

Good for you. I found Starfield to be a great game in the end. I mean I didn't play much and most likely won't, but the excitement, anger, depression, hope given and taken away, and otherwise many more emotions I experienced when reading Steam Starfield forum were certainly worth it.

Even though the crew you can hire is procedurally generated, none of them are as ugly as the pedestrians. So when I tried to use the torch on them and the pedestrians. What i found out is the pedestrians textures seems to don't have specular maps and the faces have really no much variation at this point i wonder if unlike the player and the other npcs the pedestrians are an entity of their own probably lower poly and low res textures in order to save memory usage.

Here an example there is a pedestrian and a specialist you can recruit. Now crew usually is randomly generated.

Notice anything? Both at the torch aimed but the pedestrian lacks: Specular mapping and probably has a low resolution texture and bump mapping as well (And lower polygons).
While the specialist look nice.

Yeah but in starfield is way more evident because the differences between real npcs and those citizens
This also explain why they do those weird faces normal npc (story ones or even simple guards or even pirates) Don't do.

Is anyone else playing a melee build and if so how are they finding it? I read articles and complaints on various forums about it being underpowered but decided to give it a shot anyway, and with the Va'ruun painblade you can find with one of the merchants at the Key I'm pretty much deleting enemies instantly, I bumped up from Hard to Very Hard to test as well and I'm still able to easily take on groups of enemies 5-10 levels higher (and it's definitely not that I'm particularly skilled, part of the reason I prefer melee is that my aim is pants). Even before I got the painblade the UC cutlass was perfectly serviceable and I was only dying when I got myself in a bad position and got overwhelmed.

I understand that not being able to mod the weapons and having to face tank hits is a negative but I was thinking it would be far worse from the reactions. Should I expect a big drop off later (I'm level 15 now) or is 'melee bad' just one of those memes that took off without most of the people saying it testing it?
