The sad thing Menckenstein is your attitude, not infinimod's reply. End of the day, he has a (semi) formal function here, myself and yours, we do not;

You and another idiot (who tweeted Fargo) elevated a single (and petty) error into a situation where, be it from ego, actual obligations or both, DU had no choice but to enforce more rules(TM). For "our own good(TM)", which is what i infered to by my 'too many 'americans' statement in the feedback thread. You do know "for your own good(TM)" right? Like when they go all the way to checking your anus prior to boarding your plane? For your own good? Not a day after a ten year old went ahead anyway and passed chemicals just fine and dandy? When you cannot even joke about explosion without someone adding you to a list? That kind.
When hyperbole and paranoia run rampart, we always end up with more regulations, more instructions, unwritten rules and obligations. We always end up worse, and as a true (pan)american, you helped the codex result to doing just that. This is what is sad. Your fucking hyperbole and selfishness. Hyperbole in light of the problem itself, selfishness in light of your hoping to earn some brofists from making that thread.

It is never about more policing. It is about preventing, and/or rendering the cause non worthy. Your quest for freedom(TM) and brofist harvesting resulted, once more, in a gestapo self-fulfilment prophecy. You fucking american. With a non-capital 'a'. You, Brut, the other asshole who said "if i cannot threaten Scrooge with rape this is not the Codex"? Assholes like you are the reason we get our "toys" (to quote DU) taken from us. So well done

/salute
For someone who joined in 2015 you seem very invested in this. Hi Drog

It's the fact that he's willing to use the information in such a way, not that he has access to it, you creepy little rapist-in-training.

Just to make sure, Annabelle, using random first names in your posts in the hopes of freaking out people when you do get it right is still OK, right?
:hmmm:

I don't know Tim. I foresee a new meme arising, as people drop random first names in threads.

How does it feel being in the receiving end of Freedoom&Democrawcy DU?

DarkUnderlord, I am really glad you apologized and gave this official explanation. Not so much because it was a big issue, but because a lot of people took it as a big issue. It takes some courage to apologize, and I thank you for doing it. Still, what worries me most is...

god damn rules ruin the internet

Sensuki has a point, I think. One of the best things about the Codex is that it is the relaxed place it is, or at least was. You yourself mentioned this in your post. I am not, however, bringing this up just to ask that you don't change anything, but because I think this is something that needs to be thought over. Introducing harder rules and moderation will obviously work against the relaxed atmosphere that the Codex had, but that atmosphere is a result of the people who frequent this site.

What I am trying to say is that the Codex has changed, people have changed, more users came in, many of the old users left and I have no idea if there is anything we can do to make the Codex a place where we can be informal. I fear this place is not as friendly as it once was. This may sound weird, as I am talking about a site where insults are flung liberally and people troll for fun. But even with those things, this site used to be so that all the people here felt "at home". You might not like anyone here, but you were at least somewhat familiar, you knew how far was too far and such.

Maybe there isn't anything to be done. Maybe all that is left is to bemoan the good old times. I don't know, if anyone has any good suggestions, feel free to post it, cause I am certainly interested. I just wanted to know what you guys think about this.

The real problem with the Codex is that this thread is going to have more pages than the new D:OS 2 feature.

Shameless attempt to accrue more brofists.

(Well, I guess I shouldn't call it an attempt, since it will work...)

If that ironyuri had ignored DU and didn't act like an offended girl no one would even know that his name is Pierdzisław. But since he made fuss about it everyone now knows his real name. I also don't get how knowing someone's first name would change anything, there are millions Toms, Matthews etc. and if someone would be able to pinpoint ironyuri while having his name he would most likely do it without it too. Why would he even think that deleting his account would stop DU from revealing more information about him? How could he not get the message?

Anyway, it's laughable this ironyuri was doxxing someone and then cried after someone mentioned his name only.

If that ironyuri had ignored DU and didn't act like an offended girl no one would even know that his name is Pierdzisław. But since he made fuss about it everyone now knows his real name. The point isn't that it's"just a name", it's that DU had access to his information solely through a PayPal transaction with Codex/GME, his business, and he used it in a malicious manner.

If you don't have a problem with that you're a fucking idiot.
