I hope they got someone good to optimise and bug crush this game because otherwise it'll run like shit
..and this is Bethesda so thats unlikely
I don't trust them to deliver a solid working game

Docking is in. Codex will love it.

Pretty cool actually.

All I need now is being able to nonconsensually dock with non-pirate ships for the spess pirate LARP.

Bethpizda might make something objectively decent for once with this, since Elite Dangerous and No Man's Sky set the fucking bar so low for a fucking around in spess ships and on planets game. That and for a change Todd is not raping some IP made by better designers.

Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut Pathfinder: Wrath
Some of it looks alright. I appreciate the NASApunk style, even if it's not exactly my jam.
Hmmm... maybe I will give it a try.

Strap Yourselves In
https://www.pcgamer.com/avowed-rpg-obsidian-preview-magic-interview/

Patel wouldn't spill much about Avowed's story, but did give me some of the basics on what form of RPG to expect from Avowed:

  • You have an established role as the imperial envoy, but your "personality, appearance, and philosophy and vibe you bring to that role is up to you as a player to decide"
  • You can play as a human or an elf, but not other races
  • It's purely singleplayer—no co-op
  • The world is lightly systemic: think water and lightning interactions, but not the ol' bucket-on-the-head trick
  • You'll have two companions with you at a time, with their own combat specialties and, of course, personalities
  • There are several ability trees to progress through, and you won't be locked to a particular class or playstyle
  • You will level up, but the focus is on unlocking abilities rather than putting points into stats to grow stronger

So what, are the point of interest in Starfield random or just deterministic procedural based on some fixed seed of the noise function?
sounds like its pure random, not even fixed seed. they claim not one play through would be the same.

The "not the same" part could be achieved simply because the other guy lands on the same resource deposit but a bit more north-west since you can't click the exact damn spot reliably. Which is what you should expect considering Bethpizda's track record on such claims, like the 200 endings of Fallout 3.

In the end they anyway need a fixed seed for the planet generation, otherwise every player would see a different surface from orbit.

Maybe modders will be able to make a random deposit/POI seed mod, would be pretty cool.
