Time to incline the thread:
YOUNG-WARRIOR-OLD-SWORD.jpg

TWO-CROWS.jpg

This is blatant objectification drawing attention to the slender curves, taut golden limbs and full ripeness of an extremely rare and atypical figure of femininity. Real women are not blah, blah, blah, something gaze, whine, whine, whine, something body image, yakkety, yaketty...so got any more?

As for objectification, i could see female friend doing characters looking like this easily, wondering if its a myth drannor illustration:

After looking at their Steam forum I can just imagine the discussion behind the scenes that led to this

Quite used to their PR habits by now but the talk of a "successful headstart campaign" and "powerful Dungeon Master campaign creation features" was worth a chuckle.
I wonder if they decided to work on the game more before releasing or just purely PR spin. Maybe they are saying "The early release was a bad idea so let's cancel that and go into full PR mode until the delayed release but keep a tight lip on missing features".

October is still a few weeks away. How could they possibly revamp everything and change the most crucial problems this game has, when those are at a basic mechanics level? It's not like they have minor code issues or stuff like that, the game is bad from its core to the outside.

I think they are just going to work on MP problems people found, and they found a LOT.
Desyncs, different quest states for different players, ninja looting, performance problems, crappy creation tools and so on and on...

Changing core mechanics would need at least EE but probably a sequel.

Yes, these guys worked on DAO, are very proud of it and are quoted as saying they want to 'continue the evolution' that DAO began from DND games. They won't be changing the streamlined mechanics despite the wishful thinking now visible on their forums. But the much hyped multiplayer had huge network, technical and gameplay issues, apparently, I don't think they were in any shape to launch.

My expectations for this game were at rock bottom when they announced it and yet what we got is so much worse then even my lowest expectations.

Me too, i think i remember some guy in codex workshop asking for an artist able to replicate lary elmore's art, a good idea but that makes me laugh as it seems completely impossible .

It is possible to do, but Elmore was trained in classical techniques and uses oil paints, which is quite rare these days. You will still find fine art painters working in this style, but sadly the RPG illustration field has largely abandoned this look and probably sees it as "old fashioned". Not to mention the time needed for painting in oils is much longer than digital. And the tabletop RPG field is so low budget overall, publishers are not willing to pay the prices needed for an oil painting like that. WotC or Paizo might be able to afford it but WotC is so focused on bringing in video gamers, they are looking more toward video game concept art as inspiration. And Paizo is obviously fixated with using Wayne Reynolds style art forever.

This job listing for a concept illustrator job at WotC makes it very clear: http://company.wizards.com/about/ca...-dd-marketing-job-renton-wa-us?careers-view=1
A key quote which made me rage:
Knowledge, Abilities and Characteristics of the Ideal Wizard:
- Understanding of fantasy gaming properties, such as World of Warcraft, Dragon Age, Marvel, and Elder Scrolls, and the role that art plays in making them successful.

This is why we can't have nice art anymore.

They've been able to implement a lot of missing features in the last few weeks that had been missing for months, like being able to pause in multiplayer. I think they'll use the time well, though I'm not sure about the quality of the end result.

Anyone who isn't appalled by this travesty is a fucking idiot and really should be shot because the world would be better off without you. They marketed this game as 5th edition DnD. This is not 5th edition DnD. This is the forgotten realms setting with a made up action game mechanics. They didn't just change a few rules to make 5th edition more compatible with RTwP, they completely invented a whole new extremely non-DnD of any edition related system.

I, personally, much prefer action combat over RTwP, since RTwP, other than in Aarklash legacy, has always been mindless click and watch, non-tactical, non-strategic complete and utter shit for stupids and children. But I am not getting this because the designers are extremely manipulative and out and out liars. Why would you subsidize a company that lies to your face? At least hold off on getting it until there is a -75 or 80% off sale so we can let them know lying is not acceptable.

I don't play console tripe like Dark Alliance and Dark Stone, but at least they had the sack to advertise the game that actually was, not lie and obfuscate to trick people into buying a falsely advertised game. Fuck these lying bitches. Send them a message with your wallet.

I know you can't help but have poor taste, since you're not smart enough to know what is actually good or not, but at least let your hate of shady business men trying to stick it to the innocent working man guide your decision. Your parents worked very hard for the money you will use to buy this game, have some self respect and buy something else.

Exciting news from a monocled SCL fan, could result in a more favourable review on the Codex:

You can play this game as entirely turn based using the auto pause function - choose "at start of combat" pause for "x" rounds - heaps of people loved it.

OP may not realise that - big call without studying the game - check it out - makes the game super inclusive for all types from full turn based, pause & play fans & full real time players.

Except it is nothing except what IE games had and that was never useful. Also it does not help at all when the game itself is crap and nothing like D&D.
