I'm somewhat interested in adventure games and enjoyed the original Sam & Max.
I have not bought this one yet.

Well it's only been out for 15 years, you're probably just waiting on a good sale.

Look this debate is stupid purity test garbage like I said above. 1) I'm against the changes, 2) my point was changing the original would be worse, and if you care more about the censored lines than flashy new enhancements then you can play the original, which is a good thing, and 3) GOG.com lists the original version as coming with the remaster as an extra, so yes it is available for the extremely small number of people who care but never bought it the last 15 years. Since we agree on the merits, this is all a retarded purity test about who is properly 100% enraged enough about every particular aspect, which is snake eating its tail pointless.

That's the entire point, make nostalgiafags pay out of their asshole for old games by doing remakes and then not selling the OG separately. It's not some conspiracy to delet the past, they just want to make money and judging from how this keeps happening it looks like it works.

I find SJWs pretty fucking annoying and am glad to have a place I can freely express that. ResetEra is a piece of shit hive-mind I have complained about many times on here. Again, you have black and white thinking, everyone who doesn't agree with everything you say is the enemy, it's purity test bullshit. Also I've been here since long before this shit became the central issue of the entire world for so many of you, so I'm used to the place. It does get annoying from time to time that it's all some of you think about, especially outside of the RPG section, but it hasn't driven me away yet. Maybe someday, I'll keep you updated.

It's mainly just lighting changes and better textures, but it does look much nicer. More zoomed in, for whatever reason, but that depends on the location (some have pretty different angles at times, like the casino floor by the slots). It's honestly the sound quality that is insanely better though, the original is fucking terribly compressed and sounds like pure garbage compared. There also other changes, like when you go to locations there are now shots of the outside and Sam and Max walking in, which aren't there in the original. I've heard there's new music too but it's hard to tell. And obviously the Bosco issues.

I remember buying a few seasons back then and being majorly disappointed at how dull everything was compared to Hit the Road.

So they added a top screen shadow that makes the relevant text less legible, changed a part of the wall into a "NEON LIGHT" that now provides light instead of the chandelier, changed the color of a few objects like the armchairs and changed the camera angle so presumably already rendered elements are completely out of frame? Great "Remaster"!

Yes, the visual aspect is almost completely summarized by "they added modern lighting effects." If that doesn't do anything for you, then I'd say the overwhelming reason to get it is the much, MUCH better sound quality. Put that up against censorship though and...

As one person who got suckered into preordering the new version of Sam & Max based on false promises, at least I can say:
Yes, the old version is included! (I didn't install and test it yet, but I think it is the real deal.)

But, if you have bought the old version from the Telltale web site a few year ago, you can just get the original version via the Skunkape website for free anyway and can choose if you like a Steam or GOG key.

As others already said, you could argue if the change of one voice actor and the censorship of the few rerecorded lines were that big of an issue (although they were completely unnecessary and detrimental to the game in my opinion).

But the fact that the publishers lied several times in advance about this (and later just posted things like "Oh, we totally forgot..." ) was the deciding factor for me.
I don't want to support such behaviour!

Btw. some guy from the Steam forums is apparently working on Restoring the Censored content, so far he has apparently re-added Bosco's voice to Episodes 1-4: https://gamebanana.com/sounds/50534

After the Bosco content is finished in the mod, I plan on attempting to restore anything that's been replaced/changed.

Anything that's been removed entirely however is a little harder to bring back, so we'll see on that front.

There's something really fucking ironic about the VA change given Bosco's character between Episodes 2-4 is disguising himself as European stereotypes (Englishman, French, and Russian) for each respective episode with over the top mannerisms for each and a cheesy accent but I guess that's not racist because white. Just glad the GOG copies of the old ones are easy to find, Save the World as originally intended was pretty fun so I'm looking forward to playing the rest of the uncut seasons.
