Just trying it. I managed to get to was it Gargoyles, or that bridge before Taurus demon, without dying once, and I didn't beaten up Gargoyles on first try only because I fell from roof.
aurus demon was easy, the tactic you learned in asylum worked without problems.

I also killed Capra demon with longsword +4 and hollow soldier armor on 52 attempt. I had int 17. When I managed to get on stairs I killed the dog, healed a bit jumped down killed the second dog by two handed blind swing. Ran away when he jumped down rolled from his one swing. Rolled up stairs just above his second swing. And from that it would be easy if my hands wouldn't shake that much. I threw on him everything I could when he ran up to stairs, and when I was out of firebombs I tried poisoned knifes majority of them didn't hit. In the end he blocked me downwards so I took sword two handed and went medieval on him.

Playing it offline, keyboard only, and trying to evade all spoilers.

Deprived rules. When I found any piece of armor, or weapon I was so happy. Does other classes get their starting equipment, or is it club and few planks nailed together as well? Best class for first playthrough.

Killed gaping dragon on first try with both summons, and forgot to cut his tail. Only one tail cut off so far.

I have blessed club, and I beaten up some green titanite from certain characters in Blighttown. I also found Iaito and found I have only 13 DEX and it needs a lot more.

Took me like 40 hours to even figure out you could summon companions, so much unecessary struggle... Oh well.
On the bright side I chose Great Club as my weapon simply because I thought it looked bad ass, assumed it was crappy since its a freaking piece of wood, but turns out it has the highest potential attack rating of all weapons.

I dont think blessed weapons are that great unless you have high Faith score btw. You should pick a stat to focus on and then get a weapon that scales with it.

Capra is the best for adrenaline inducing. I almost got heartstroke last time I beat him (I was 13 humanity and didnt want to lose it... but I lost it anyway).

Lesson learned for the future: Homeward Bone after bossfights if it looks like you're going to be fighting enemies again. A good amount of bosses actually drop Homeward Bones for this very reason, it's FROM Software telling you not to be a retard.

So your saying that my character can use Homeward Bones w/o having Homeward spell? I thought it was reagent for spell since I found 6 in the chests near the crestfallen man and the fat priest merchant. I'll have to try to use one.

DS:PtDE is so aggravatingly addictive. I read the user manual but it seemed lacking in info. I can only play offline so I cannot summon anyone right? Or are there NPCs to summon? I've only made it as far as undead parish. Avoided the knight guys so far - not sure what their called. There was one in Undead Burg and one in Undead Parish at top of a small spiral stairs.

Was going to clear burg and try to defeat that one knight just before stairs to Taurus Tower. He disappeared for some reason? Not sure why.

Just kept moving after unlocking door in basement of that Tower and a Fighter with a huge dildo club chased me up the Tower steps. Who the fuck is that guy? He's a LOT more difficult than the Taurus demon. Of course the Taurus Demon would rape if I could not do plunge attacks {death from above attack}

kb+m is so bad for this game :( I only have a few attack and defense options due to it's too complicated to press obscure button combos at right time.
I always make the mistake of turning to try to step out of enemy attacks - unlearning that while re-learning spacebar backstep has gotten me killed the most I would guess.

Will try to persevere.

You can summon NPCs; Solaire is a common one but there are others (nearly one per boss, but not all bosses).

Homeward Bones are a separate item; no spells use 'reagents' in the DnD sense.

The dildo guy is Havel. You may hate him now, but you will hate him more if you play online. Havel is like herpes, basically.

The black knight you are referring to is a one-time enemy. You killed him or he fell to his death if he's gone, even after resting at a bonfire. Those guys have a chance to drop their weapon or their shield. That one in particular has a very nice greatsword that can easily carry you through the whole game... at like a 20% drop rate =(

So you are trying to evade all spoilers and yet you know that you can chop off gaping dragon tail AND you actually summoned lutrec in that fight ?

bullshit.

Why are there black bars on top and bottom when I'm playing but when I take a screenshot with dsfix they're gone? :?

Also, this area reminds me a lot of daedric ruins

Hve you set ingame and dsfix to the same resolution? Otherwise they might conflict.

Edit: OMFG!! The crystal cave has got to be the most infuriating thing Ive ever encountered, died like 15 times at the same place, shooting arrows and using prism stones doesnt even help, I can step right ontop of one and still slide of the sides.

Edit2: Oh look Im in the same place. Dunno about daedric but it screams Lovecrafts The Shadow out of Time, especially with these cone creatures.

There's 3 main 'invisible' paths in crystal cave (not counting the one that sucks for the slab) and they are basically straight shots. It's best to either look up a map or just learn it over time. But then, you only need to rage-walk to the slab once.

Yeah, I spent ages on the slab path, thought I had to go there because the note said the other path ended. Derp.

Hope you had a magic or enchanted weapon bra! Cuz its useless otherwise =(

p.s the clam things are super good to farm for purging stones and, more importantly, twinkling titanite. Once you beat the boss you'll have a bonfire you can warp to RIGHT THERE and can easily farm 'em. If you are mage, soul spear should do the trick. Light bolt can too. Otherwise, careful not to get eaten.

Question: I'm trying Pyromancer character w/points in int so i can cast mage spells. Mage spells seem like they offer a lot of interesting tricks. I am wielding battle axe +2 and wearing chain. Kind of flying blind in the game but i'd rather not screw myself spending levels on useless stats in long-run. Will a balanced stat light armor PyroMage be viable?

You will rape everything in PvE wth pyromacy. Just dont go with any stat over 40 and dont put any points into resistance and you wll be good

What about DLC bosses? I recall them having very high fire resist from my SL1 run, to the point where a lightning club was more effective.

Dont really remember. Artorias died to Great Combustion and Kalameet/Manus to Crystal Soul Spear last time i played mage in DS. Pyro+Magic was always easy mode in DS1 and by the time he gets to DLC fights he should have have good grasp of game mechanic. Using Iron Flesh and grabbing your weapon in two hands is also viable:lol: Also Power within :yeah:

Damn, the ending sure was anticlimatic.
Took 3 tries on the boss, first tried blocking him but he never stops attacking so I wasnt able to attack him back, second I couldn't dodge him cause Ive been using fatrolls all game, so I just ended up facetanking him, outdamaging and outstunning him with the Wolf Ring.
Pretty much what I did with all bosses. None of them gave me much trouble really, especially not those that I had heard so much about. But I guess its because I built pure tank. Allowed me to survive their attacks and simply outlast them by chugging potions while getting smacked around. Mostly died from cheesey stuff like getting pushed of ledges and shit like that. The difficulty for me came from minions and conserving enough potions for the actual boss fights.
Still, awesome game. :5/5:
Moving on to the sequel!

For bros with a FAGBOX, download the free version of Dark Souls 1 and get ready to go retro...I'm talking unpatched.

Not only do you have all of the absolutely retarded balance decisions smoothed out in 1.06, but you deal with all of the terrible bugs and control issues that pervaded the game at launch, before 1.04 and 1.05 were released. Lock-on alone is utterly atrocious, and the game steers your rolls into enemy attacks far too often.

Tempted to try save editing a Fog Ring, Crystal Ring Shield, and a Red Eye Orb for serious lulz. Dunno if DSSE is compatible with unpatched saves, tho.

I killed Kalameet and Manus (at SL 1, no less) using only pyromancy and a few swings of a lightning club on Kalameet.

I used duskcrown ring + bellowing dragoncrest ring and some silliness with red tearstone and power within but with attunement you can do this without the idiocy SL 1 requires.

Just beaten up Pinwheel. Is he vulnerable to magic or something like that? I killed the one in front. I hit him few times with Leeroy, and he had less than one third HP. I had who knows how half HP.

Took me 3 hour to find that smith and managing to get on that ledge with priest clothes. No Rhea in Catacombs, thus I'd go to Blightown to get some dung pies and to recover. (Recovering from Catacombs in Poisoned swamps...)
Now I'd go to Blighttown to loot it properly.

Now I have quite a lot of armors with few complications.
A. No poise
B. Not enough titanite shards.
C. Too heavy
D. Not whole set.

Huh, the free version doesnt support the patches?

For some reason, it doesn't seem to. On load it would not even get past save-game check because it was v1.00 and my saves were v1.06. It prompted me to update the game, yet it wouldn't be flagged as in need of an update. Even after deleting my saves, the update, the Artorias of the Abyss DLC, and clearing my console's cache it still refuses to pick up the patch. I'm not even certain if I could download the update from some site, format a flash drive, and transfer it by those means.

So if you really want to see how janky DkS1 was at release, or relive memories, it's worth a download. But if you want the real DkS1 experience...might have to wait for MS to get their shit together.
