It all depends if you like the boxed copy or not and if you are willing to risk server overload over waiting for the physical copy to arrive too

Can't really imagine it taking more to download over waiting for around 7 days after release. Anyway, aren't these digital pre-orders usually available to pre-load?

I do like boxed copies, though, not a big fan of digital shite.

Same. I need to pre-order.

What's a good store that doesn't treat people (employee's or customers) like shit?

Here in Mexico they charge arround 50% more for games in Blockbuster (standard pricing here over the usual price in the States) but I have gotten some pretty sweet deals on used games and I placed my preorder for the PS3 version there....I could have gotten it from a dedicated videogame store but since I figure the Blockbuster store chain will die too here in Mexico I wanted to somehow help out, plus they have the release date om the 11th and the manager even told me she could sneak out my copy over the weekend first :D that was enough to convince me
I will order the PC version from Amazon UK to get the boxed version; I always like to get the boxed versions of the series and game I really like, plus the Souls games have some nice extras like the soundtrack
Funny how that works isn't it? I have pirated my share of games in the past, but for the ones you really love and respect their creators you can always go even beyond the vanilla boxed version

The infamous pendant incident was a prime example of Dark Souls’ director Hidetaka Miyazaki’s sense of humour and while Miyazaki may only be on-board here in an advisory role I spied an item during my hands-on time that suggests his mischievous sense of humour may yet live on in the sequel.
One of the starting items available to my explorer class was the “Petrified Something”, which is described as “A simple petrified lump. It may be of use, someday”. So, could this be the item that proves that From Software is not beyond trolling its fans all over again or one that will kick-off an all together more rewarding treasure hunt? When I put this to Miyazoe the producer pauses and then laughs.“The problem is that spoilers are the biggest enemy of our game and we believe that spoilers are the biggest enemies of the fans too,” Miyazoe begins with a grin.

i think they confirmed there won't be something uber-useful as a gift (like the master key) this time. you'll probably have the choice of "that thing that makes the game harder", tiny being ring, human effigy, some firebombs/bitchin' urns, the pendant, and some other rather trivial things

I refuse to believe them. The troll souls is quite strong in this series.

If there's no master key I'm gonna grab those weird objects for sure. It seems a waste to pick something you'll eventually get easily.
It'll suck when the game releases on them damn consoles and videos and shit start appearing everywhere. It'll be hard to stay clean.

Some new info regarding character creation courtesy of Famitsu:

http://www.famitsu.com/news/201402/06047695.html

- First image shows a face tattoo.
- Second image shows what could be the Deprived class: SL 1 (all stats have a value of 6), no weapons, armor or items.
- Third image shows the Swordsman class: SL 12, Wanderer Set, Scimitar and Longsword.
- Fourth and fifth images show body constitution selection, haircut selection.
- The starting gifts are listed: Human Effigy, Tiny being’s ring equivalent, set of various healing items, Homeward Bone, Bonfire Ascetic, Seed of a Tree of Giants, Petrified Something and no gift.
- You can select between different types of haircuts and eyebrows. You can also add beards (for male characters only).

Yeah, I'm not rich enough to buy a console only for a game...

Edit: Those faces look very anime-y. Mmmmmmmm...

Petrified something is probably junk like a Pendant.

Seed of a Tree of Giants seems like it could be useful.
