Someone put Shamus back in his place, this thread is about Campster's Errant Signal videos, not him (as the fucking title clearly says). Last mention of Shamus in this thread was in October 2012, almost a year ago... don't try to hijack an entire thread for your own self-hate needs bro.

Besides, if you can have a blog and write walls of text and give opinions on other stuff, respect that we have the right to do the same on your opinions, and that we - apparently unlike you - actually bothered to read all that was said before going into butthurt mode and dismissing everything as "HATE!"...

It was Campster himself who mentioned this thread, not Shamus.

I was hoping he was being full buttflustered but he gave no sign of not taking shit in stride. Codex has shamed itself

I like campster videos but they only have entertainment value (it is always fun to watch a guy that isn't annoying to hear, ranting about stuff you hate), because he doesn't say anything that anyone with a working brain don't know (Modern popamole is shit?! Really?! This is an incredible discovery!).He pays too much attention to the aesthetics, the way the story relate with the gameplay but when he goes discussing gameplay itself he rarely do an more detailed analyses and just quickly namedrop the problems and goes again in ranting mode about the story, this , the story that and etc.
On his videos about the Lara Croft series, he barely mention the difference between the mechanics on the older games and the new piece of shit Crystal Dynamics regurgitated then goes on a rant about Lara Croft character... He isn't a publisher shill or an easily impressionable child ( so ,at least, his videos aren't faceplaming inducing) like most gaming reviewers are but I would like that he payed more attention to the mechanics themselves instead of wasting 3/4 of his videos talking about the story, character, aesthetics or story in relation with gameplay.

This Campster isn't a very thorough person then. Looks like he scanned a couple of posts on one page and came to the conclusion that the entire thread is a hate-fest. Not quite the thinking man he makes himself out to be, huh?

Pretty sure theres at least 2 posts bashing him on every page here. Given the context of what he was saying, it wasn't really relevant whether there was any praise mixed in. He was just referencing what amounts to a collection of hatemail.

I automatically discount the opinion of anyone who like Extra Credits. TotalBiscuit is brilliant in comparison.

He's on the ignore list because he posts image spam (like most everyone else on the list) or an alt of someone who does. I still read the posts if they're actual posts and at the end of a thread.

There is also paragraphs of discussion about game design and the subject matter and content of his videos on every page, for and against. To dismiss this as a hate thread is lazy and glib.

He didn't dismiss it as a hate thread. He just pointed it out as an example of somewhere he could find dozens of insults towards him gathered in a single place, while talking about the fact that seeing something like that is probably going to piss off/upset most normal people. It doesn't matter if every second post is an adoring fan if the other half are calling you a limp dicked cock gobbling pedophile. You're going to notice both halves, not just the nice stuff.

He said it was a thread devoted to making fun of him. Which is most certainly is not.

Also the dichotomy of praise/derision is problematic itself. He shouldn't read threads based on how nice people are, but how interesting the discussion is.

How interesting the discussion is wasn't relevant to the conversation he was having. What was relevant was whether or not reading the thread made him want to kick a puppy, which it did. It wasn't a podcast about the fucking RPGcodex and how intelligently they discuss things. It was a conversation about how people react to being insulted dozens of times before they even have a chance to respond.

Why would any of the people listening give two fucks about the details of this thread? Moreover, why is it his sacred duty to read all of our shit posting and verify that the impression he gleaned from a quick glance at the thread was 100% accurate? You guys think way too fucking highly of yourselves. I'm sure he's got more entertaining things to do than find out what every prestigious magazine on the internets is saying about him each week.

Dude, I don't care if he reads the thread or not. But if he's going to mention the thread, he should probably know what he's talking about. This thread is not "devoted to making fun of him".

If he's going to say that there is "a thread on RPGCodex dedicated to making fun of me," as if it's fact, he does have to be thorough and accurate. Or he can just keep his mouth shut like sensible people do when they don't know what they are talking about.

But it's acceptable among hipsters and gamerfags on the net to flap their gums and declare things that have no basis in reality because emoshuns or personal preference are enuff, so it is what it is.

Some unknown internet e-celeb briefly mentions the Codex and the Codex gets all in a tizzy over being e-famous. And now I'm contributing to the problem by posting, but come on bros. Who gives a shit?

:( I don't know why are you people so surprised. Someone builds a small audience saying either stuff that plain annoy you or are pretty obvious, then they think that they're infallible and turn their audience into a hugbox, claiming that everyone else is a mean hater troll who is out to get you.
That's what happened with both Phil Phish and Campster, as well as many other gaming-related commentators/superstars, like Adam Sessler, Jim Sterling, Yahtzee, the Extra Credits guys and so on.

Fish is a drama queen, there is no comparison... but people like Chris that earn money/fame out of talking, criticizing and debating other people's work... why they react so badly when people do the same with them?

I'm sure that Campster was REALLY happy that Warren Spector replied to his reply, instead of just dismissing him as a hater, and Warren is way more "important" that Campster... but still Chris himself acts differently, instead of him coming here and debating with us, he reads and go talk with his friends of how he is hated on a community he didn't even bother to try to communicate with...
