for your amusement, a salty Nintendo fan

But really, Astro Bot doesn't looks too inspired.

I wouldn't know, don't own a PS5 nor do I care about the Game Awards but its still funny to see someone go completely unhinged at something utterly meaningless like those awards

2004 is the last era of pre-internet Western popular culture petering out. Hard to convey to younger posters how omni-present a genre of music or clothing style could be. Monocultural periods like this died once social media, smartphones and web 2.0 came along. It might look tacky in retrospect but I know which event I'd rather attend, the audience are actually having fun.

Obvious to point out, but in 2024 they could be ranking online clothing retailers for all the difference it would make to the presentation. Most industry-specific award shows look like this now. Zero juice from anybody - presenters, performers and the audience.

Don't suppose the list of nominees does 2024 any favours either. Nearly every title presented in the clips of the 2004 show is a significant one in the history of its genre.

Team Ico's new game was my happy surprise. Found out only last night. All their games are good. Glad they finally abandoned that ancient stone/ruin kind of setting.

Okami is nice too, but even if good will serve as reminder of how far devs have fallen, being a sequel rather than an original IP and only allowed to be as it is (and not AAA slop) for that reason. Not that the original didn't have problems, including in pacing.

the live orchestra shit is so incredibly lame lmao

I can't stop cringing whenever I see people go all teary eyed when they hear some tunes from one of their favorite games being played by an orchestra. Enjoying it is one thing, but creaming your pants and turning into a slobbering retard is another.
