I'm 7 years older than my wife, that's pretty normal. The problem is Bioware play up the little girl aspects of their young women. That elf chick in Dragon Age 2 might as well be 13.

True, that's probably why I found it feeling kinda inappropriate. As I said, the romance initiator feels as though Shepard's taking advantage of a 17-year old girl's practical groupie-esque hero-worship of him. It's something weird even for a Renegade to do.
