It's protected with armadillo, which is essentially an ancestor of denuvo -- it was a precursor to VMProtect, denuvo is essentially VMProtect marketed towards game publishers.

Damn you Davaris

Now I'm confused. Installed on another laptop (Scarlet version), copy pasted key, worked.

Perhaps the problem on the previous laptop was that I first installed a more modern version provided by Jack_Deth. I removed it and was quite dilligent about it, but perhaps some files remained somewhere and caused a conflict.

Anyway, yes, the more modern version seems much better. There are more stats (7 instead of 5), social skills, traits and perks (shamelessly copied from Fallout, but...), also much cooler visuals. I'd love to get my hands on a key to this one.

Perhaps you made the classic error of copying the return at the end of the line when selecting the name or password? Try being more precise/using keyboard keys when highlighting to copy.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
So I managed to get this to run on my old Win XP netbook. Played the old version posted by Scarlet Lilith, used the code in there, full version works. Haven't tried the updated version yet.

Game's decent so far. Feels like a mix between Baldur's Gate and Fallout, interface and mechanics wise. Encounter design is kinda trashy, but that's fine.

Didn't get as far as any combat encounters in the 2.? version provided by Scarlet Lilith, hoping that version 3.? will be available. However I might also have to try the older one, since the newer seems resistant to our efforts...

Also, the older one has multiple save slots, no permadeath! :D

They seem different enough to almost qualify as different games

Jack, do you still have your old registration code to unlock the full version? That would be a godsend.

I've had a look but haven't been able to find the email. I'll keep looking though, been a long time and various emails used over the years. I might try to contact the original creator too, I spoke to him a couple times over a decade ago.

Does anyone know how to reach Davaris? I'd like to put this on archive.org if he's OK with it so it doesn't get lost again(hopefully).
Infinitron maybe?

Found this in an old thread:

It was made by a codexer.
http://www.rpgcodex.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=7508
After watching a couple of screens again I kind of remembered it. But I didn't pay much attention at the time.

Like PtD, it was an indie ahead of its time and now it's dead :|

Latest demo version 3.24 is here:
http://web.archive.org/web/200702020641 ... /news.html
http://web.archive.org/web/200702020641 ... meDemo.exe
I can't try this at the moment (linuxfag) so I'm not sure if it works.

I don't understand what exactly was released for free.
It says the game the game is shareware (so supposedly it should be full version) but the "demo" on their site is 13.1 MB, but the vapor links on the web mention a filesize of 31.68 MB
It's fucking ridiculous how all the links redirect to the dead developer site. I can't get the "full" download anywhere.

Now we just need someone to actually play it to confirm that it's a broken piece of shit.

I played the old version posted by Scarlet Lilith, and that one is likely unfinished because it starts breaking after the first major main quest step. No maps after you enter town will load. I checked the maps folder, which contains all the in-game maps as image files, and found that no maps past the initial ones exist in there.

I will play the newer version tonight, now that we got the registration code.

First and foremost I'd like to say thanks to the nailed God, the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He has risen.

Poor lamb, you're lost!

Otherwise, you'd know you were just blessed by the Flying Giant Spaghetti Monster.

On top of helping you find this file, he'll provide you with spaghetti for the rest of your life.

Nah, we all know this was delivered by Lucifer-Hitler-Vishnu-Wotan.
