I don't get this meme.

This "meme" has been posted probably hundreds, if not thousands, of times. If you still don't get it, consult your doctor. You may be retarded.

That meme is retarded either way.

I'm feeling more like I'm talking to an old friend that came over (Outer Worlds), while my girlfriend is sitting beside me (Disco Elysium).

Man, I'm making weird comparisons today.

I don't get this meme. Is he supposed to be looking at TOW, or were you just too lazy to flip the Codex guy so he would look at DE?

I was too stupid to notice that the codexer is looking the wrong way and too lazy to fix it after posting it.

Here is the upgraded version (or downgraded, depending on who you are):

I could kill a character close to one of my companions, and the moment I tried to speak to said companion she’d immediately leave the party—but if I never started that conversation, she’d stick around and even follow me into battle. I finished the game in both states, and was surprised to discover the game could tell the difference between those two states, and gave slightly different endings for the character in each case.

:gangster:

Still got it.

have racism in the game - bad reviews coz racism
don't have racism in the game - bad reviews coz theres no racism
you can't win in this review game

It's not that. The point is that the middle class journalist is deeply uncomfortable when the focus shifts from racial relationships (i.e. the ones that uphold the status quo and keep the social power in the hands of the middle class) considerably to the left, to class relationships. The neutered, centrist adepts of neoliberalism seem to have this gut dread when their particular brand of mock-socialism is threatened by something slightly more radical, for obvious reasons. In this case, the pretend-threat comes from a big-budgeted video game drenched in corporate "self-critique," which makes this kotaku excerpt doubly amusing and smh-worthy (the part where the reviewer accidentally says "our world" instead of "the USA" is pretty good as well).

Rather than say anything about unchecked corporatism, The Outer Worlds just portrays its excesses, seemingly hoping that players will draw their own conclusions even when it’s unwilling to do the same.

For better or worse, The Outer Worlds is a perfectly middle-of-the-road open-world RPG. It doesn’t take any big risks, but that also keeps it from falling on its face. Despite some great writing, the game doesn’t have much to say about the corporate dystopia it establishes, ultimately playing it too safe to justify the premise.

:M

What did he expect, a serious critique of capitalism in a comedy game where you can have gun that literally melts people's faces?

Would you be surprised if that was the case? Honestly?

Codex Year of the Donut
attempt to portray capitalism negatively:
living on a planet in a remote galaxy owned by a corporation with advanced technology
attempt to portray communism positively:
deadbeat cop living in a shithole that has a week to live while everyone talks about how great communism is

Pro-Tip Corporation.
Reminder for eh old people I ques. When review mentions Fallout vibes you gotta realize it's about Fallout 4-3 vibes.
Well, Fallout 1 would be FPS if not for the lack of technology.
Yeah and Constantinople should not have been taken etc etc.
Anyhow, wise thing to do regarding this game is wait. It will be on 50% discount in 4 months or so.
