Ugh, not excited to read in reviews that it's the same old Bethesda inventory system, sifting through broken pens and candy wrappers in every treasure chest, with a hard cap on carrying capacity because of course it's realistic that you can only carry 10 suits of plate mail.

Most alarming thing that I've encountered in some review is that game is ~30 hours long and author was a quite throughout for a half of his run. He gives scary 16h mark for a "blaze-through main plot".

PS trying to find where I am quoting it from
Not so scary, it would take even less in new vegas or any Bethesda games if you just do main plot.

As Taylor Swift would say...nit-pickers gonna nit-pick!

From the reviews and their impression on the dialogue between NPCs and the MC, and the dialogue in quests it looks very much that this game was written by autists whom have not one ounce of social skills and do not understand how people in real life react. Here is an extract:

" Parvati, the explicitly asexual engineer, asks you for help setting her up on a date with a fellow woman engineer. There’s a dude who constantly says the word wink, instead of actually winking."

I doubt their attempt at humour will be any better, Obsidian humour has always been shit and feels unnatural, forced and stiff. It is like you are in a middle of a conversation then "drop joke here" haha that was so funny you were supposed to laugh at that!

https://www.gry-online.pl/S020.asp?ID=13608 (their English site is called Gamepressure, they're the biggest gaming Polish site)

They said roughly this:

+ strong (classic) Fallout vibe
+ unique and distinct setting with clear artistic direction
+ open world and free choices - every NPC can be killed and we can be evil
+ quests and dialogues have many solutions/choices
+ advanced character system which follows SPECIAL example

- bad combat mechanics and poor AI of our opponents
- old graphics and poor optimization
- quests and NPCs could be more interesting (especially companions)
- serious story doesn't fit silly setting

and gave it 7/10 but from the looks of it their main gripe are graphics and poor optimization and they didn't like humour in it so if all of it turns out to be true this will be GOTY for sure in my book. Uninteresting quests seem worrying but seeing that they can be solved in many ways and that we can do it with completely different characters I'm pretty sure they will turn out to be above average (let's be honest, in most RPGs we have either fetch quests or kill quests, it's the approach and how they're presented that matters, some twist or interesting location can turn a boring fetch quest to awesome experience like The Glow in Fallout).

Edit:
Oh, and they gave Fallout 3 9/10 so I would take their rating with a grain of salt.

The writers at Obsidian write like people who have nothing exciting going on in their lives and have never experienced anything out of the ordinary.

Anyone wants a 13% discount coupon for the Outer Worlds on Fanatical store?
I think it's not tied to my user account however the disclaimer says it won't work in USA or Canada.

I too don't have anything exciting happening in my life this days, just the regular walking out of my place and turning around only to see the gandarmeria in full combat gear and full autos, just because the jews next door decided to have party and meh nazi. Still i can write ten times better than those people.

They're writing for the similar people in the audience. Hey, there the slogan for Obsidian right there.

From boring, uninteresting people to boring, uninteresting people. Voila

If it stays around 82 that's less than I expected. I was expecting 84-86 or thereabouts.

Deadfire is 88 metascore from 71 reviews and we all know how that one turned out.

(But with xbox game pass 1$ deal OW at least has a chance to be played by a shitton of people).
