I just finished Ravenloft Strahds Possession and it took me about 35 hours

I enjoyed it but there are some seriously frustrating designs like dozens of Treants spawning in the Undead Forest and I had to keep running away to heal and come back

But puzzles were not too hard, I used some tips and guides. But I prefer the overall mechanics of EOB

I enjoyed the overall narrative, Ravenloft is always a good setting

It isnt as good as the EOB series but still worth playing and its gets a 55/100 on the globally respected " BruceVC game rating system "
I have fond memories of this game. It was one of the first CRPGs that I played. The devs nailed the atmosphere. The lack of a restoration spell sucks because of all of the undead with level drain you fight, but that is the only major issue I have with the game. I don't think the EOB series is better. I like that series too, but I played EOB2 last year and I kind of hated it. They stuffed that game with so much frustrating BS. For instance, on the top floor of the tower, the entire western section of it is controlled by mindflayers. I could not find a single strategy to defeat them, because they flood out and paralyze your group. You can entirely avoid the western tower and proceed to the boss fight, but how about the prison floor that is stuffed with Frost Giants and moving floor pit puzzles? Geez, or how about the glass spheres that can be used like a fireball spell but are needed to access the top of the tower? You start finding them early on with no clue what their purpose is. If you used them in combat before reaching the end game, you were boned.

Edit: for clarity

I recently finished Strahd's Possession. Not much I can say that hasn't been said by others.

+ I really like the exploration in this game.
+ Many levels have good level design.
+ Really good music.
+ The game gives you a lot of consumables... and using them is a good idea.

- A lot of level draining undead but I couldn't find any way of restoring those levels
- I got stuck because I didn't find Secret Buttons and/or Fake Walls many times, but this might be a skill issue

I played it through with a Human Paladin and an Elf Fighter/Mage. I used Fhalken and Glorianna, then swapped Fhalken with Mischa and later swapped Glorianna for Anshelm.

I will play through Stone Prophet with the same characters as soon as I finish Benzomerranzan Schitzoberranzan Drizztdoberranzan Menzoberranzan.

Newer games spoiled the Stone Prophet for me. In 3.5 and further, you could've used a bow as a Ranger/Cleric. Not in twoos. It was something I only cried about back in the day, and something I can't get over now when trying to replay this game.
Oh, the horror, the horror...

Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
Gameplay wise it has more depth, but that also means it's more complex. On that front I'd say it's the better game.

It will surprise you in places with its content, but in other places it's just pure filler combat against trash mobs.

In regards to setting and atmosphere it feels completely different to Strahd's Possession. No horror, no real suspense, but instead mysterious.

Overall I find it a mixed bag. The truly cool parts got overlooked by almost everyone, but the truly bad parts go a long way towards sinking it.

If you liked Strahd's Possession and want more then Stone Prophet won't disappoint you.

Never did get very far in Stone Prophect, I don't find the setting as interesting. Recommended here? As good as Ravenloft?
I was much the same. I really missed the gothic horror aspects when I got to stone prophet

I finished Menzoberranzan earlier this week. First, before some moderator gets itchy fingers, I'll quote the OP:
It's possible that Menzoberrenzan can also find a home in this thread as it uses the same game engine
So there.

Menzoberranzan has a few big changes compared to Strahd's Possession:

Ceilings can now be higher, levels can have the regular height or 2x, as long as the height is uniform within the level. Strahd's Possession seemingly had 2x height walls in outside areas but I think that was accomplished through other means (i.e. fake walls).

Every square on the grid is larger, 1.5x or maybe even twice as large. This means that you can attack enemies before they get close (and vice versa). It also meant that it was a bit difficult for me to judge distances when looking at the map.

Enemies move much slower and combat is also slower. Enemies aren't moving as spasticly and don't spam attacks like they used to. That's alright, because the party can't spam attacks either. The cooldown between attacks seems longer, like they are simulating initiative and weapon speed rules of then PnP game. Except wands and other multiple use items can be spammed.

What I thought about the game:
*Level desing isn't as good as in Strahd's Possession. The cave levels are labyrinthine messes where everything looks the same and I got lost constantly despite looking at the map, but maybe that's just me. I feel like they should've had less of that. With that said, I really liked the dwarven levels and the Menzoberranzan levels.
*Combat is too easy in this game. Sure, I lost a party member or two occasionally when facing a heavy hitting enemy but other than the only fights that felt challenging where the yochlol and the final battle. The game showers you with consumables but there's almost never any need to use any of them, I only used some in the final battle. In fact, the only spells I used in my F/M/T character's spellbook was Light and Improved Identify, you could probably finish this game without a mage.
*The music is really good, though not as memorable as in Strahd's Possession. Unfortunately I suffered some bug where after combat ends the regular music wouldn't come back untill after a while passed, so there periods of silence sadly. An annoying thing is that whenever the music changes, the game pauses for a couple of seconds; accessing your inventory during combat changes to regular music and back to combat music when you exit, pausing the game twice.
*In Strahd's Possession enemies make a lot of noise when nearby, here they don't and I miss that. However combat music starts whenever an enemy is nearby, even if there's a wall between you.

I had this weird bug when I drank a Potion of Jump and the effect was permanent, it's supposed to go away when resting but it never did.

I played through the game with an Elf Ranger and an Elf F/M/T. I had Baldassar and the Centaur in the beginning, replaced them with Drizzt and Manahath. When Drizzt disappeared I temporarily took the diseased Dwarf to heal him, to see if I'd get XP or a reward but sadly nothing came out of it. So I recruited Azarell the "Elf" and due to a bug she never betrayed me and stayed with me untill the end.

I'd like to warn anyone that's playing this game: at a point you will find yourself in green caves. There an NPC will ask you to kill an Umber Hulk. If you've already killed the Umber Hulk before talking to the NPC, the game won't recognize it and you're softlocked, you have to reload a save from before killing it and talk to the NPC first.

Overall, I enjoyed Menzoberranzan but not quite as much as I enjoyed Strahd's Possession. Now to Bone Profits Stone Prophet.

So I finished Ravenloft: Stone Prophet earlier this week.

I liked it but as I was nearing the end of the game, I felt some kind of fatigue. Maybe Stone Prophet is too long or maybe I had just played too many games in the same style in a too short period of time.

Stone Prophet is more open than the earlier games - you can walk around and explore the desert and you can enter dungeons before you're supposed to. I really liked that.

This game was more challenging than Menzoberranzan (doesn't say much I know). I imported my characters from Strahd's Possession but I don't think it made much difference: the difficult parts of this game concerns damage from fire, lightning, poison and disease, which the game in some cases provides help with (and if it doesn't you just have to deal with it).

At one point in the game you have to translate a text. I really liked that. I actually copied down the cipher and the text in a notebook. Nice.

Thrown weapons seem to be less effective than in Strahd's Possesion. Maybe they were bad in Menzoberranzan as well, I didn't use them much there.

Combat is weird: in Strahd's Possesion it's best to spamclick the enemy in the viewscreen, in Menzoberranzan it doesn't matter and in Stone Prophet it's best to click on the weapon icons above the portraits.

There's this bug were the audio and text cuts out before the audio is finished. Never happened in Strahd's Possession, happened a few times in Menzoberranzan and sadly happened a lot in Stone Prophet.

Through the game I had Piotra and Trajan with me for the most part, dumping one of them when needed. Replaced Piotra with Sethir later. Sethir had terrible HP, that said I never tried his "Change Form" ability.

Overall I liked Stone Prophet, maybe not as much as Strahd's Possession. Maybe I'll replay all three in the future, there are class/party compositions that I'd like to try out, I'll see what happens.

EDIT: Before I forget this, I used this fix posted on GOG Forums
