Bros, I absolutely cannot crack this pistol minigame. It might be mouse lag on my end, but I need some way to by-pass it.

If you are talking about stupid shoot-the-flying-crap minigame then I can't beat it on medium either and I have a very good mouse. It's just a shit minigame. Move difficulty to easy, pass the stupid game (it's much, much easier to do then), go back to your favorite difficulty.

I can't even do it on easy, I'm getting too much lag, it's fucking driving me insane. I am literally having a nervous breakdown.

Have you tried to lower your graphics settings? I mean go as low as you can, just keep the resolution native to your monitor. Making graphics look like shit helped me in EVE a lot ;)

Lowered gfx settings, put monitor to lowest possible native (my monitor is native 1920x1080, but it lags too much w/ peripheries.) the minigame is just driving me insane. I seem not to be getting shots off in time, this takes me back to the first two hours of Alpha Protocol hacking. I hate it, but I know iit doesn't make the whole game bad, it just needs to be overcome.

If the minigame is the only way to finish a quest then this makes that quest bad, and the devs should feel bad about it. I like Risen 2 a lot, but fucking minigames like shooting and drinking ones really piss me off. What kind of designer thinks that including a twich based minigame in an RPG (ok, aRPG) is a good idea?

If You are a N vidia user try in the Control panel setting :
Maximum pre rendered frames to a lower value than your current.
Try forcing v sync on , triple buffering on, disable v sync in game.
Unplug devices that use USB from machine, also system spec would help .
That mini game was un aimable for me to, I think I hit only 4,5 flying thingies to win it , I don't think that's planned that way.

It definitely is not, since there is an achievement for hitting 10 out of 10 two times in a row.

Remember that if you don't shoot, it doesn't count. So you could theoretically just hold your mouse in one place and wait for a bottle to pass so you can shoot it. Would take a while though.

^ Yeah. Once you understand that, it gets a little easier. I passed all the mini games easily because of that, just keep your cursor on the far right and shoot only to slow items. Also, switch to easy.

The mini games are indeed pretty fucking annoying, and almost impossible (for me at least) above easy difficulty. That said, I can't think of any quest that *requires* you to win the shooting gallery game (I haven't beaten the game yet though), though doing so makes things easier. A couple do require you to win the drinking game, though.

Even if you win, he still wants 500 pieces of eight for the pistol. Much easier to have your monkey steal it. And everyone has the monkey because why the hell wouldn't you max thievery asap.

Well, as far as I can tell there's no reason to get it above 7 unless you *really* love dirty tricks. It does seem to be the best thing to raise at first though.

Currently on treasure isle trying to figure out the final riddle, just like in R1. Yarrrr.

How do you get in the locked room in Antigua's tavern? I assume that's how you get the.... item. I've actually found the monkey of limited use - good for running around storehouses without having to move slowly in sneak, and for a couple of rooftop / window tricks, but e.g. not much it can do in Caldera.

Edit: Yeah, I have 88 thievery with 8 cunning (including a +20thievery ring), which means when I chug a potion I can open any chest and pass the highest thievery check I've seen in dialogue, which is 95.

Buy the key from the guy hanging out on the beach a little to the east of town. The key is one of the two items he'll sell you without saying what it is. Doesn't have anything to do w/Treasure Island as far as I can tell though.

Could anyone spell the usage of 'dirty tricks' to a retard? My coconuts never seem to hit anyone... (Cunning at 6.)

^ I think (could be wrong) that hitting with them is based on the talent itself, so stuff that boosts the talent should make them hit more. TBH the only one I found to be useful is the parrot (needs Cunning 8 to learn), which is really, really good.

I'd like to replay the game some time to check the 2nd 'main' option, but really, the combat is atrocious. Replaying Risen 1 is a joy when you already got the hang of the melee system. But here? I'm sorry to say this, but the popamole nature of the mechanics is not alleviated by the 'dirty tricks', which I hoped would be the case...
It feels like they took combat to the opposite end of the spectrum from Risen 1. In that game, melee combat was basically turtling behind your shield and waiting for a break to throw out a combo that would hopefully get the random timing to pass the enemies' blocks. In Risen 2 actually attacking is more effective, since you can't block animals and humans can randomly bypass your weapon block. Combat has been more something to be tolerated rather than enjoyed. It would be a lot nicer if there was an actual option to dodge or strafe quickly enough to actually avoid hits.

Ugh! It's that bad?! I actually enjoyed the melee combat in Risen, simple as it was. So, do you basically just spam attack until shit is dead?

Not exactly. But there is no real dodge and parry may not be so effective. Also, guns are kinda QTE-like not quick time but auto action without aim or anything. They lock on to target and have a miss chance when fired and a reload timer.

Wrong. If you don't shoot 3 times in a row you automatically loose. One of the characters you can play this game with says "If you won't shoot, I won't throw".

So, where can I buy hunting tools in the Sword Coast? One of the natives said one of their women would sell some to me, but I don't see any in her stock. I wanna skin and bone animals to make more cash.

It's actually one of the warriors in the village who sells them to you there. I forget the name, the only one with a store. I think if you join them you can buy a knife which gets you more ingredients.
