I preferred it to the original (which just seemed largely chaotic)
:what: No Metro! Noooooooooooooooooooooo!

Also slightly tempted by Wizorb. Only reason I'm not buying it immediately is it'll surely be in some indie bundle at some point. Goddamn indie bundles stopping me from buying $2.70 games I'm interested in.

I get the premise that it's supposed to be a kingdom 'simulator' but it's just way to hands off for me. At least in the sequel your heroes are a bit easier to guide to certain objectives. In the original often times they will just totally ignore flags regardless of the money.

I'm tempted to get this. But there's a big discount for Europa Universalis 3 @ Gamersgate, so I don't know.

If you're looking for something more strategic go with EU3. Majesty 2 is a fun game but not very complex. I can't really describe why I liked it. Mostly the humor, but it's very basic and repetitive.

Woah. Completely unrelated to everything, but I just noticed that Steam upgraded/changed the copy of Majesty Gold to "Majesty Gold HD", which lets me run at 1920X1080 and doesn't have any scrolling speed issues or anything. Hot damn! No idea when they added this but it's much appreciated.

Nice find. I'll have to reinstall and give it a go. The UI was a bit off-putting, as was the limited map view -- hopefully the changes are noticeable.

I really wanted to like Majesty, and I think I did for a while (I might even have a codex post praising it that I've since flip-flopped on), but I've gotta agree with this. I tried playing it again a while ago and it's way too hands off. The lore and the heroes and everything are all really cool, but it feels like the game is just pressing the 'Spawn Hero' button in the guilds over and over again.

Yeah I just tried the HD version -- graphically it's a really nice update -- but just can't get into the game play. Still prefer the second despite the bugs/balance issues.

Majesty 2 is like a free-form tower defense game. Not bad, but not for everyone.

Actually, looks like they made a full tower defense.

Defenders of Ardania (DoA) is a next-generation tower defense game set in the rich fantasy world of Majesty, but with a twist. Besides the addictive core mechanics of placing towers to stop advancing enemy units, DoA also allows players to take on the role of the attackers seeking to conquer the enemy base.

Tried the demo yesterday and this is pretty much a pile of shit. There are free flash tower defense games that are a lot better than this 15 jewgold thing.

Yeah it's apparently terrible. I might grab it for $3ish whenever it goes on sale. I don't even think it's made by the same developers who made Majesty 2. Of course, that wasn't made by the developers who made Majesty 1! Fuck... now I have the urge to reinstall Majesty 2.

The expansion/DLC/whatever for Hard Reset will indeed be a free update on Steam when it launches in April/May. That's fortunate, was thinking it wasn't going to be. Should expand a 2 hour game by an hour or something!

Surprises me a bit. Guess I should have jumped on the $4 preorder. Still not really eager to play this or anything else in the indie royale bundle.

bros, what about anno 2070? I know it's a futuristic setting but what exactly do you do?
what type of goods do you trade?
is there any combat?
can you play custom games?

And SPAZ is the daily deal due to the new bounty hunters expansion/DLC at $2.50. It's well worth that, even with the issues I had with the game. I'd recommend you bros check it out unless you're waiting for it to show up in an indie bundle.

Goods are best covered by the wiki, as there's a shitton of them - http://anno2070.wikia.com/wiki/Goods
Three factions, or rather, two and a half, since the Scientists are only developing til Tier 3.
There's combat, though it's basically boats, aircraft, submarines and missiles, nothing horribly complex really.
There's also some research to do, and you can make your own "artifacts" this time around, if you're so inclined.
And yeah, there's custom games and also multiplayer on custom (random) maps, but getting MP to work is a bit of a pain in the dick.

Solid game though.

Soz for slow reply on that.

edit:
quite possibly the greatest deal steam has ever had
http://i.minus.com/iF7R9VP7iqjGU.jpg

I saw it live myself before it turned into 80% after a couple of hours
apparently if you tried to checkout you got an error instead of valve money

also it doesn't say on the frontpage but you can get all the Spellforce games at 75% not just the second
---

I simply cannot believe how my bro MHC didn't even bother to frame most of these.

Thanks for the reply. But it's no longer on sale :(
Seems to be a game that's up on some sale somewhere, somewhere, all the time though.
