I like the hostility of robots.

Fighting cranes and forklifts looks like harmless fun ... which is not.

Is there a 'Dark Souls in space' game? I guess 'Furi' is vaguely similar, didn't like it that much though.

This looks at least better than LotF - wich was terrible.

LotF was a perfect showcase for how right From got Dark Souls and how easy it is to screw it up. It's still more interesting then a lot of modern games but my god was it awful at times.

Coming this May.

Deck 13's new hardcore action-RPG, The Surge, today unveils a CGI trailer exploring Warren's first day on the job at CREO, the megacorporation on a mission to save a dystopian world (pessimistic vision of our future) from itself.

Freshly recruited as an augmented worker, Warren's first day coincides with a catastrophic event deep inside CREO, during the routine surgical operation meant to graft, through flesh and bone, the exo-suit required for the company's employees. This disastrous event marks the first in a series of brutal events, turning this first day at CREO into a hellish nightmare of robots gone haywire, crazed employees with fried cranial implants, and artificial intelligence all wanting Warren dead.

Now equipped with a state-of-the-art exoskeleton, you'll have to improvise in order to survive - tools manipulated by CREO workers, while not originally meant for combat, make for effective lethal weapons. The equipment pieces compatible with your exo-suit will make you faster, stronger, and sturdier. During battle, target specific limbs of your enemies, slice them and retrieve the powerful attached equipment to improve and power-up your own suit, allowing you to delve deeper in the CREO complex and attempt to put an end to the madness initiated by the Surge.

Make the most of your exo-suit, armor, and almost limitless armament combinations to survive CREO when The Surge slices its way onto PS4, Xbox One, and PC in May 2017.

More information to come about The Surge on February 1-2 at « le What's Next de Focus », the annual Parisian event where the publisher showcases its titles in production to the international press.

Wonder if it's a good idea to release it in the same month with another sci-fi action game about high-tech mega-corp gone wrong.

In the grim far future, analgesics, careful surgery and sedatives are always a lost technology. Nice trailer in any case.

Upcoming sci-fi action RPG The Surge today reveals 14 minutes of gameplay with commentary from Deck13 Game Designer Adam Hetenyi. Explore the dystopian environments in CREO’s mysterious industrial and RND complex, the Abandoned Laboratories.

Fitted with an industrial exoskeleton, you must fight your way through CREO, equipping the spoils of combat to your suit. Armor and weapons are looted from enemies after duels, in which you will take advantage of The Surge’s unique limb-targeting system to attack and cut off parts of the enemy you want to equip or craft.

Targeting a part of the enemy which is armored will deal less damage, but you will earn the opportunity to deal a finishing blow that will cut off the limb in-tact, allowing you to loot the spoils, gain blueprints, and tech-scrap used to level up your exoskeleton.

The Surge features vertical and horizontal attacks, which are used in combination with parry’s, ducks and jumps as well as a boosted dodge – courtesy of your exoskeleton – culminating in swift, snappy, precise combat situations unlike anything experienced before.

At CREO, you will meet survivors who need help or who can offer assistance. Accepting missions can yield extra rewards, but you will have to balance that against your desire to go deeper into the complex, as the stakes grow ever higher – once dropped, your tech scrap will diminish over time.

Face the dangers of CREO and set your own challenges. Accept missions, learn more about CREO’s history and lore, and fight the various mini-bosses scattered throughout the environment, or play it safe and struggle to survive – it’s up to you.

The Surge slices its way onto PS4, Xbox One, and PC in May 2017.

Hey, this looks like it could be a fun game.

But if it's the future why is everyone fighting with metal pipes and sledgehammers? What happened to firearms?

Coming May 16 - preorders now open for consoles and PC.

Deck13's upcoming hardcore Action-RPG The Surge today unveils a new CGI trailer, showcasing intense, visceral combat between man and machine. After exploring Warren's first day at the office in the previous trailer, we now witness him battling mechanical foes deeper within the CREO complex.

Megacorporation CREO works to reverse the devastating effects of climate change, but the facility is hit by a mysterious, catastrophic event. After awakening from a blackout caused by this disaster, Warren is thrust into a deadly new world. Robots gone haywire, insane augmented co-workers and rogue AI - it seems like everything wants him dead.

Players are pitted in a desperate fight to survive, engaging these unpredictable foes in tight, visceral melee combat. Grow in power with The Surge's next-gen looting system - target and slice specific limbs off your enemies in battle, then equip the weapons or armor you dismember!

The Surge comes May 16, and is available to pre-order now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Visit the official website for more info.

Steam pre-order is live in 5PM GMT.

This is totally not Elysium: The Game.

Focus Home should stop funding this Deck 13 and Spiders trash and spend more money on cool stuff like Styx and Vamypr.

And elysium was totally not Beneath a Steel Sky the movie.
