Wait. This requires something special.

CAPS-LOCK ON

CDP MANAGES TO MAKE A PATCH LESS THAN A WEEK AFTER RELEASE, JUST ABOUT

BUT BIOWARE TO MY KNOWLEDGE STILL HAVEN'T FIXED GAME BREAKING BUGS FROM DATOO? NOT TO MENTION AWAKENING.

WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?

Simple, BioWare was never much up on post-release support, even NwN they dragged their feet.

Now add EA that is even worst in terms of support and you get nothing, even DA:O they pretty much dropped it as a sack of potatoes.

Your only hope is BioWare does not became Bethesda that manages to be even worst, look at FO:NV were the continued support comes mostly from Sawyer despite the game still have some serious issues (like Arcade rejoining bug).

From what I seen CDP really likes their game, its not "work" for them (at least yet) so they keep supporting it to get it "right" as EA is a sweetshop operation were its just a product, there is no love for their work.

I wonder what is it about the russian version that makes it harder to implement changes.
It's braindead faggots from 1C-softclub deciding that russian version needs Starforce.
Mother of fuck, why do they keep doing this? I realize that StarForce is cheaper to license than SecuROM, but is saving a bit of money really worth completely messing up the patch support? I hoped the NWN2 fiasco would teach everyone. Shit like this is why PS3 has become my primary gaming platform. Only complete masochists can persist being PC gamers in Russia.

The good news is that the patch is ready. The bad news is that we have encountered some problems with the server infrastructure, making downloading DLCs impossible. We want to apologize to our fans for not meeting our target of delivering the patch last night. We will update you when we know more.

Shit like this is why PS3 has become my primary gaming platform.

Good thing for people who like good video games that it's not.

2. Fixed the free Troll Trouble DLC download. It is now included n the patch so there's no need to download and install it separately.

Maybe now Stereotypical Villain will shut the fuck up.

Funny, I've a 4:3 monitor and the bars didn't bother me. Anyway, all you need to do is widen and heighten the image and you'll get your 4:3 resolution! What's that? Too fucking hard? You want CDP to wipe your arse for you as well?

Good, so go and play with fucking bars.

It's 2011 and a pc exclusive where 80% of people have 4:3 screens and they didn't do it for release, even if you widen and heighten you will get bars or it will look stretched and shitty.

lol wut?

Not sure which 3rd world country you live in bud, but I havn't even seen a 4:3 monitor in years (apart from the old one I keep for dosbox games).

If I had to guess, I'd say here where I live it'd be about 95% of PC games are being palyed on widescreens (16:9/10). Considering you can buy a 19-20" widescreen LED for under a hundred bucks, I'd say it's time to drag yourself into the 21st century and stop your fucking crying.

Edit: ^^ ha, circ beat me to it.

80%? Maybe in potatoland. .

Yes , that's why CDP is retarded because they don't support their own audience where they put in the most money to advertise the game.

I often see on potato forums that there are people with geforces 2 and pentiums 4

So what? Those people can't run TW2 anyway so why should CDP cater to them? They certainly aren't the audience that will be playing this game. Most of those that will play it will have at least a PC capable of running it along with one of those generic widescreen LCD monitors that they package with basic PC's at Media Markt.

80%? Maybe in potatoland. Most people, if they haven't already, are gravitating towards 16:10 and 16:9, along with hardware manufacturers.
Nowadays, it's even hard to get monitors with 4:3 resolution. Plus, they are usually quite expensive, as nobody buys them. They are quite rare.

The game doesn't even run on a Radeon X1900XT, so why would anyone care for a Geforce 2?

I have a PC capable of running The Witcher 2 hooked up to a 1280x1024 monitor. I feel absolutely no need in getting a larger one.

It seems that the 1.1 patch will remove Securom already from the retail game.
Edit
Patch 1.1 Corrections

1. The process of installing and activating the game is now easier and more stable. SECUROM copy protection has been removed entirely, making the game DRM free!
2. The “Troll Trouble” DLC package is included in the patch, bringing to an end any and all problems related to downloading this content.
3. Problems related to downloading other free DLC have also been resolved. The game launcher now correctly detects and updates specific modules.
4. Game efficiency has been improved. Game now runs 5-30% more efficiently and game loading has been accelerated. Efficiency increases will vary depending on system configuration and game version. Owners of boxed versions of The Witcher 2 are likely to notice the greatest improvements.
5. Bugs causing the game to crash, especially while saving game progress or loading saved games, have been corrected.
6. Movement key mapping has been expanded to include cursor (arrow) and number pad keys.
7. Options have been added for inverting the X and Y axes of the mouse.
8. NVidia 3D Vision Surround now works correctly with the game.
9. The hardware configuration auto-detect function has been corrected, resulting in improved game efficiency.
10. A bug preventing the completion of the “Blood Curse” quest has been corrected.
11. After beating the GOG.com penitent monk in the mini-game, the relevant link now displays correctly.
12. GOG.com credits have been corrected.

Bars are one thing. Tiny, little fonts, this is the real deal breaker. Fuck you CDPR.

Besides, 1024 X 768 is the max resolution my monitor can handle. Higher then that, and I'd have to deal with eye hurting 60 Hz.

And no, I refuse to "upgrade" my monitor untill OLEDs are on the market, as LCD is fishy technology, plasma is too expensive, and I see no point in buying new CRT at this day and age.
