So I'm at my local used games store, and I see The Witcher for 2.98... Insanely low, I know. So I pick it up. Now I remember there's supposed to be some EXTREME edition or something... Is this shit worth it?

You can download the Extended Edition or whatsitcalled for free from their website once you register your copy.

I'm still somewhat ambivalent about the EE. There's a bit of performance improvement and a much needed inventory over-haul, but some of the voices were re-done which I think should have been left alone, whilst others that were shit were left as is.

Still, the latest patch removes copy protection so there's that.

As mentioned already you can get everything online for free to upgrade it. It's a decent bit of patching, but don't expect a whole new game. It's polish. If you see the normal edition cheaply then you can upgrade it later on.

Not sure if the online registration with a used copy might cause problems though.

Non-Enhanced Witcher still has better written English dialogue if you use my language fix.

Install the polish language pack. Polish voices are better.

Well, there aren't any significant choices in the prologue that change anything so I would just plow through it and then save at Chapter 1 and go back to that whenever you want to try something new. That's what I did.

The mods are good for this one. Hi-Res Character Models + Texturen Mod + the one that considerably reduces GUI = visual awesomeness.
