Culture (of which language is a part of) is the accumulated achievement of a people, and is downstream from genetics - a people with african genetics will never form culture akin to that of Japan, for example. You are thus correct in that genetics are more important (as they're what forms a culture), but that does not mean culture isn't of a massive importance itself. Let's say you meet someone of pure german stock, the most german German you can imagine, yet who, through a stroke of fate, happened to grow up in Pakistan and adopted its beliefs and traditions, meaning he is a practicing muslim with a 10yo "wife" who also happens to be his cousin. Are these aspects truly so secondary as you make them out to be, easily trumphed by his genetics? Or is it rather that genetics and culture both are of enormous importance?
