Gaider was actually "in the closet" for longer than him (only became common knowledge like 2-3 years ago)
He didn't have to come out for people to know, really. Always had the gay accent, and the toupée is from before DA2 IIRC.

Yeah, the guy was gayer than a musical theater with unicorns and rainbows. And he really went full militant after all the gay romance and sex scenes started popping up inevery game he was involved in.

Makes you wonder how much sjw stuff will be in future Beamdog stuff now that he is in.

One eyed king, sometimes you have several very good points somewhere, but they always get lost in between monologues of you trying too hard.

Today, you really have no point at all, and you are trying too hard for...nothing.

My current mental image of you is of a nephew of a junta officer in Argentina, who's watching a few soldiers torture a gay communist just for fun. You shout out, "Your gay culture is an attack on art and aesthetics. No wonder we don't see good games any more." The bleeding gay communist manages to speak, despite his damaged ribs, "B-but...but, you have a poster of...Modern Talking on your wall." You slap the gay communist with your gloves. "Insolent fool! Modern Talking isn't gay! It's asexual high art and culture." Then and there, you break out into song, in front of the gay communist, "Deep in my heart, there's a fire, for your love..."

That's just the Californian accent.

I always thought Avellone sounded pretentious, but paradoxically he comes across a nice/humble in all his interviews.

Might just be that writers/creatives tend irresistibly toward pretentiousness.

Dat moment when you find out that "visionary" you adore is probably just an ordinary clueless fuck who just got lucky once (or had good coworkers).
:smug:
Most "visionaries" are actually this.
+M
And most actual visionaries suffer from crippling blindness in one or more other areas distinct from their genius (plus additional inability to acknowledge it because "vishunary!") so they need just as much luck.
:troll:

Wouldn't say once (and luck played a part in any great work of art on any medium so it's kind of pointless to bring it up), Arcanum reached new heights when it comes to actual roleplaying (which is too often dumped in favour of other gameplay aspects) in the genre and TOEE remains one of the most faithful tabletop adaptions in the history of the gaming industry.

Besides, anyone who was in large part responsible for a marvel like Fallout has a free license to fuck up everything for the rest of his career. Regarding his supposed bad taste when it comes to games like Fallout 3 and Oblivion, the only difference between him and a good part of the Codex in that regard is honesty (i.e. they enjoy said type of games as much as he did/does or even more but will claim it's shit after sunking 200 hours in it).

Anyway, not exactly an opportune time for this thread's revival now that Tim Cain is posting on the Codex. Hopefully, he doesn't get chased away by a couple of unhinged monkeys throwing feces at him.

Having joined in 2002, even with huge gaps in posting, I'm sure he's quite aware of the fecal flinging :shittydog:

Looks like being gay was not so ok at codex in 2011

I hope it's just a running joke.

It's a cosmopolitan forum and a lot of our members come from countries where homosexuality is still different shades of taboo and/or illegal (although the majority of those posters infrequently address the issue). More frequently, there is a religious fundamentalist element that at least a couple of consistent posters buy into to varying extents.

More than that, you just have right-wing people with no or middling religious sensibility who dislike homosexuality because it is an organized left-wing group with political influence.

After that, you've got trolls (moral and political nihilists).

Generally what you have is a combination of all three or more elements.

if you can be married to a woman and be gay, can you be married to a man and not be gay? Talking about guys.

Maybe he's not really gay, you guys....

I am deeply disturbed by the kind of stuff I posted as a 19 year old.

I liked it. You tried too hard but there was some creative use of subtle racism.
