Todd Howard seems like an honest guy to me, refreshing.

You should read some of the claims he made while Oblivion was in development, and then decide how honest he is.

That was meant to be sarcastic....the AI he promised before oblivion sounded so awesome but ended up a total joke....a funny joke though...crazy buggers

To be fair, radiant quest sounds pretty easy to implement, and i'm hardly a master programmer. Plus, Todd seems to have learned his lesson from last time because in this particular interview he's been rather restrained and made a note of saying that he doesn't want to talk about things he can't confirm will be in the final game.

Oh man, can I take the Dragon's soul if I kill him?! Wonderful, I'll put it on the same shelf as the hundreds of other souls I've collected in other TES games.

Except, it doesn't sound interesting at all. It's like level scaling for quests. You only get quests that are "appropriate" for you.

I think I spent too much time way from the Codex, the list doesn't look too bad. Though I wish they'd just group Spears with Blades and be done with it (They said that Axes and actual blunt weapons are similar enough to be grouped together as "hafted weapons"; I'm sure they could cook up some excuse explanation for Spears too), just so I don't have to rely on modders.

Considering you could capture souls in Oblivion, I imagine this means something bigger than "more enchantment points". What with you being "Dragonborn" and all.

My guess:

edit:

-The companions are more "dynamic", more people to choose from, sacrifice depth for the number of companions

Buh? Companions in Oblivion were nameless, replaceable generic guys from a faction you belong to. What depth?

No you don't. It governs different quests to different degrees and in some cases it doesn't affect quests at all.

They just have 1h and 2h instead of blunt/blade now.

Maybe the comparison was to fallout 3.

Hmmm. This could be cool. Choosing 2h means I can't use useful enchanted shields, and choosing 1h means I can't use the gigantic assraping zweihanders. More difference than between Blade/Blunt division, where your options were varied enough that the choice was mostly aesthetic.

Maybe the comparison was to fallout 3.

They weren't very deep in F3, either. It was mostly "oh cool, you are a nice/ bad/ neutral guy like me. Nice shoes, wanna fuck team up?". Well, at least they had names.

I'm fine with nameless mercs as long as they're useful. Look at the bright side, if they go with this there will certainly be no bioware style romances softcore porn movies.

I`d prefer to larp personalities for my followers instead of getting another dating mini game too.

So the real news is that in five years Bethesda still haven't hired any decent programmers.

Or guys who make animations. It's pretty sad when you realize that some 15-year old modder girl on the internet can make better animations in a few days / weeks than a stinking rich company like Bethesda could in a few years.

While we're on that topic, build up some ragejuice with a couple of gamefaqs threads.

Quick guys, lets pick on more minor flaws and blow them up to cover everything decent in the game!

Wow, people will seriously nitpick ANYTHING.

They have a brand new engine. Maybe animation quality will rise to arena levels once more. :smug:

Next time you think Beth's animations suck, go play Superman 64 or play E.T.

You heard it, folks. To truly appreciate Bethesda's animation, you first need to play Superman 64 and E.T.

If the player has missed a major event, such a management system ensures that he is made aware.

Popups we all loved ?

or maybe instant game over oblivion like because bad guys killed the stupid monk ?

They could've done something cool with that. Like mass oblivion gate spawning, destruction of every city and dungeon and force the player to fight against a neverending tide of enemies until he dies. I guess a popup was easier to implement.

It's too hard to make good spear combat animations as spear combat is totally different from sword/axe etc. where you can sort of get away with the same generic animation. To be honest, Bethesda isn't the only one that cannot do spear combat. I'm racking my brain trying to remember a real-time game which did it reasonably correctly. Maybe Severance? Though I think that also had you swinging a spear.
