A single ToEE bugbear (especially one of the levelled ones) could butcher a legion of NWN kobolds. While its true you fight plenty of em, encounters in ToEE are always more challenging than neverending hoarde of weak enemies you get in some titles.

Are you nots? TOEE bugbears are extremely easy. The only time I ever got nervous around them, was when they did the one dimensional hoola hoop dance and went through a bean line to the mage ... if theys urvived the multiple AOO. I found TOEE's encounters for the most part to be on the easy side. Very few battles were challenging.And, I be a single NWN kobold could beat a TOEE bugbear. You do relaize that NWN kobolds DO have levels higher than one; don't ya?

Not to mention a basic bugbear should be able to beat multiple baisc kobolds. Last I checked, a kobold has 2 hp for HD; while a normal bugbear IIRC has 3 - not to mention a supe rhigh strnegth.

Go figure a bugbear under normal circumstances can beat a kobold.

So, you admit that bugbears are buffer than kobolds? Well, so long as we are on the same page...

Anywho, I have to disagree with you on the difficulty. Overall Ive found that the general difficulty in ToEE encounters is considerably higher than what I experienced in most other recent CRPGs. This is not to say that ToEE encounters are always supremely challenging. They are just, IMHO, _more_ challenging than what other titles offer. I will admit that some AI quirks can totally trivialize an encounter (spiritual weapon...) but thankfully the patch will take care of that.

Never used spiritual wepaon. Not since the BG series broke the spell, and from what I've heard TOEE was no different (though the patch is set toa ddrress that spell in a weird unbent way).

Well.. I would hope the average bugbear would beat the avergae kobold in either game. Actually, I don't think kobolds ar ein TOEE; are they? Just goblins. I'd hazard a guess the average NWN bugbear would ebat the average TOEE goblin, and its buddies. That doens't prove anything.

The real test would be NWN bugbear vs. TOEE bugbear. I'd wager it be about equal,a dn it could go either way. NWN has Bugbear Heroes which is its version of the Superior Bugbears in TOEE.

Still, most battles were easy for me in TOEE. The touhest being the army of galeb dhurs Absolute ridiculousness to the absolute ridicolous degree. :twisted:

Yeah, but I thought the Bugbears got stronger as you progressed down each level. Some had about 100 hps if I remember correctly (not many, just a few of the greater Temple ones).

no contest. The NWN bugbear would kick the TOEE one because he could hit while it's opponent was busy pressing the "end turn" button".
