Connelly (or whoever you customize as your main character)

What's this about "whoever" you customize as the protagonist? Can his name be changed, too? What would even be the point of introducing this James Connelly character. I wonder, if that is the case, if they will use a <charname> token system to refer to the main PC. And was this supposed to be a play on James Bond~Sean Connery as the Shaker operative? Weak.

Still, don't like the idea of a main character is an old school party-based adventure.

That is what they said, that the game will allow you to change his name, class or gender as you wish before the game begins. I think the main idea here is that one of the characters in your group has a definitive background, which will tie in with the main quest, but be otherwise unimportant. Since even the gender is customizable, I get from this that this background won't be any more important than, for example, needing your party to be working for Pharaoh in MM5. Now that I think about it, maybe they put that in to get the pledge from those people who couldn't get it through their heads that you play the party back when Wasteland 2 kickstarter was running.

Has Romero got any experience with making RPGs? On the one hand, he might bring a new take on the genre. On the other hand, this just looks like one big bangdwagon jump. And I'm sorry, but I still remember Daikatana

It's not like Romero is supposed to actually design this game. So I've no idea why they brought him up at all.

why does everything about this ks feel so half assed?
Because everything about this KS is half-assed.

I'm lolling at how much flak this turn-based blobber that has oldschool written all over it gets while rtwfuckingp 'we need millions to make a mod in the Baldurs Gate engine' PE gets cum all over it. Tsk tsk tsk.
What, you mean you can't tell the difference between a kickstarter that had constant regular updates, a very well designed campaign and personnel who have more experience than anyone else in the industry at creating quality RPGs ... and a bunch of one-hit wonders (if that) that jumped on the bandwagon without even putting together a TODO list never mind a well designed game
Pretty much this. Hell, I know I criticised Obsidian for their lack of information but even "RTwP, Baldur's Gate" is more a basis of a game than "old school RPG". And as has been pointed out, Obsidian have a track record of at least making games that are remotely RPG-like and moderately interesting: KOTOR 2, NWN 2, F:NV. This mob make shitty facebook games.

Oh yeah and Wolfenstein 3D and Commander Keen aren't RPGs.

They are however awesome gaming classics. And Anachronox is a (j)rpg and another classic while we're at it. And despite Cleve's inane ramblings, Brenda has worked on the Wizardry games. Again, classic rpg's. Talk about track records. It's dead tho, so...

Meanwhile the Codex ran a funding drive for a RTWP game. Saint must be spinning in his grave.

In what capacity, though, Trash? Writing dialogue for characters nobody could be bothered with? Figuring out how to describe a puzzle in the hint manual? Suggesting more bloom?
