All the quality journalism has got me to write a little BloodNinja-style cyberscript.

BN: wanna cyber?
HotGirl13: hmmmm, yeh, ofcourse
BN: Tonight, I am a game journalist, and you are my game.
HotGirl13: Oooh
BN: You arrive at my door escorted by the mailman. I sign the warrant and you are released into my possession. Oh yeah, the game is on.
HotGirl13: Mmmm, spin me like a disk, baby
BN: I remove your packaging slowly, iPhone in my hand to record every step. I will upload Unpacking Of video on Youtube later. I comment every step of the way.
HotGirl13: Ummm, not sure I like the way this is going.
BN: If you were a girl, I'd treat you to to a candlelight dinner of delicious doritos and sparkling MTN Dew but you're my game. My thing. As long as I don't break your EULA. The cops would break me for that. Years earlier, I'd share you with my friends and you'd eventually be discarded, sticky smudged fingertips all over your rims. But no longer. You are mine alone. I take off the last of your packaging and place you where you belong. I feel my excitement grow as you connect to the servers. Our stats will be monitored.
BN: The screen lights up and I see your logo and your intro. It's flashy and boombastic. You gyrate in my drive as the data flows in my XBOX circuits, the noises promising wild delights.
HotGirl13: Dude, I don't get your similes.
BN: Relax babe it's almost action time. I pull out my joystick and brush fingers over it. Oh yeah, you want this, don't you?
HotGirl13: Yeahhh, this is more like it! Bring it on, baby, I am ready to start!
BN: I push your start button and am greeted by a welcoming screech of your string orchestra.
BN: Baby, you're fantastic! You're the new COD! You're complex, visceral, engaging! I am having the experience of the generation! The emotional engagement is overloading me as I frenetically squeeze my joystick. Suddenly, I feel our Citizen Kane moment approaching. 9.5/10, best game ever, zero replayability. I remove you from my disk drive and delete the saves. You drop into my trash bucket, and some bum will later dig you out and use you to his delight. I post the review.
BN has disconnected.
HotGirl13: Wtf.

Watch this video. Absolutely every single thing in it is what's wrong with game journos. Every last thing. Even without Dewritos they're worthless.

Still cant believe this thread has more than one page. Who the hell cares about "gaming journalism", why is there so much drama over such insignificant stuff?

Why is it your forum shtick to be concerned with other people arguing about feminism/gaming journalism/consoles/et cetera?

Because all the good shticks were already taken.

It is far from insignificant. As long as game "journalists" exist to feed the hype machine rather than critically evaluate games, the game manufactures have little reason to try to improve the quality of their games instead of making shallow popamole to cram down throats of the ignorant masses.

Didn't you just post a thread about how you feel bad about pigs being killed?

Definition of insignificant stuff

I dunno bro, that just means he thinks more highly of pigs than game journalists. He's not really wrong.

At least Giant Bomb outside of that Klepeck dude don't make any claims to be real journalists. They play games and people enjoy listening to what they think about them, I guess. Gerstmann would be the first to tell you he writes and speaks about games and is not a reporter.

That doesn't really excuse him though. Regardless of any official title, he is a games journalist in practice and he should be bound by the same code of ethics as any other normal journalist.

Not really saying otherwise, hence the "at least." He's not fooling himself, for what it's worth.

So this is pretty funny. IGN reports on an article from satire site P4R, thinking it's real, then removes it when they realise their error. I know IGN are a bunch of retards, but sweet jesus, how bad must your fact checking be to report on fake news from a satire site? Especially when the article just before that one is entitled "IGN CHANGING REVIEW SCORE RANGE FROM 1-10 TO 7-10?"

Holy shit.

Here's the cache page for the removed article.

Excuse the fact that it's in Bing cache. The person who linked it to me will be dealt with very swiftly.

Agreed. I mean, you'd think that they'd recognize the absurdity of suggesting that their score range hasn't been 7-10 for years.

(Coincidentally, that's also the age of their target demographic.)

It isn't insignificant. Bad reviews and corruption in game journalism cost consumers money.

It also has an influence on game development. Why make a really great product when a mediocre piece of trash can get 8s and 9s?

The more damning fact is that they appear to have reposted the entire article almost verbatim without even attributing credit. Dirty pirates.
