Meh, we already know everything about reviewing conditions mentioned in that quote has already been done, with the exception of requiring someone to write a review based on how much fun someone else is having. I'd consider it real-enough, since it is the next logical step.

Yes I am being passive aggressive in my behavior because I don't see another avenue to clarity, I know they watch this feed.

I'm sorry if I'm being annoying but I'm having to consider new professional avenues, it's that serious. I'm still human and scared..

I think I've played this game before. Expect the following tweets any minute now:

I think I hear something moving in the attic. They're here!

Adam Sessler
I saw some video interviews of the guy at E3, he was coked out of his goddamn mind. This is probably nothing but some drugged-up paranoid ranting from Adam.

No money need exchange hands, no favors need be offered. As long as the game companies themselves are the sole means of getting news, thus hits, thus business, game "journalism" will remain compromised like no other. At least a place like Forbes doesn't depend on video game coverage to subsist. Problem there, though, is that whole expertise thing I mentioned. They are easily impressed over there.

Well put, and very true.

If I had a penny for every person who's gone on /v/ and made a "I work for developer/games journalist outfit X and I'm gonna spill everything because I wanna stick it to the man!" thread, I'd be able to end world hunger overnight.

Not saying it isn't true, but take everything you read there that doesn't have a timestamp or proof with a grain of salt. They had some guy pretending to be a CryTek employee who's shit everyone ate up, until it turned out it was just some guy from NeoGAF fucking with them.

Well it would make sense as this was posted yesterday and people are wondering wtf he is freaking out about. I was still waiting for more info before I put it up, but Volrath's post does make sense and seems to coincide with this redditard post. This would be amusing to see the main stream freaking out and feeling betrayed by "gaming journalism". Also fyi only saw the redditard post as I am not willing to skim through the self threads as the autism in those posts can be overwhelming sometimes.

Adam Sessler and Polygon founder Arthur Gies tweet hints of impending "bad news" concerning the industry. (self.Games)
submitted 1 day ago* by C-Ron

Both Tweeted the same thing at around the same time. At first, people assumed it had to do with the recent "reveal" that Xbox One versions of multiplats run at lower resolutions than their PS4 counterparts, and that Microsoft embargoed X1 games due to fear of websites making comparison videos. Although this is true, Adam and Arthur stated that it wasn't the reason why they Tweeted such things.

...The only question now is...what the hell could be so bad?

They hardly ever do game reviews anymore (at least, not in their online news) but almost every decent mainstream gaming review I've read in the past 10 years has been in the NY Times.

In the year 2525
If gaming is still alive
If women can still survive
They may find

In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lie
Everything you think, do and say
Is on Twitter you read today

In the year 4545
You ain't gonna need your brain, won't need your eyes
You won't find a thing to chew
There's nothing to look at for you

In the year 5555
Your arms hangin' limp at your sides
Your legs got nothin' to do
Xbox 35 is playin' it for you

In the year 6565
You won't need no console, won't need no PC
You'll pick your code, pick your design too
From the bottom of a long glass tube

In the year 7510
If Bill Gates is a-coming, He oughta make it by then
Maybe He'll look around Himself and say
"Guess it's time for Microsoft's Patch Day"

In the year 8510
You are gonna shake your tiny head
you'll either say, "I'm pleased with what games have been"
Or tear it down, and start again

In the year 9595
I'm kinda wonderin' if gaming is gonna be alive
It's taken everything this old earth can give
And it still ain't no fun.

Now it's been ten thousand years, man wrote a billion lines
For what, he never knew, now gaming's done for
But within eternal code, the inkling of fun
So very far away, maybe it's only yesterday

THE FAT MAN HAS SUNG: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1rqsrbv

Dear friends and lovers,

Today I announce my departure from Destructoid.com as serving reviews editor and all-around sexy boy. I have been with Destructoid since, Christ, when was it? 2006? Back then, Nick "Brutal" Chester was the editor-in-chief, and he told me the readers love it when you mention Pokemans. I've never forgotten that advice. I'll also never forget my first post -- a news article on reviving dead Xbox 360s with towels. Readers responded with "Who the fuck is Jim Sterling?" It's a question that remained poignant throughout my entire career.

Who the fuck am I? I've gone from vulgar wildcard to slightly-more-vulgar wildcard to slightly-less-vulgar-kind-of-okay-guy. I've evolved from wannabe games journalist to proud games blogger to fiercely proud consumer advocate. I have been called a sexist and a vagina warrior radical feminist -- sometimes in the same day! I've been a newshound, an interviewer, a producer, a critic, and an asshole, and I owe all that Destructoid.

But as I constantly change, so too does Destructoid, and my continually expanding duties in the field of games media mean I cannot give Destructoid what it needs from me at this time of extreme evolution. Destructoid needs in its reviews editor a particular kind of writer, one absolutely fully dedicated to the company and its expansion. Meanwhile, my career is a wild and thrashing thing, and while I'll spend the next few days trying to consolidate the monster, both Destructoid's Dale North and I are in agreement that whatever form my life takes, it will not achieve the synergy we'd need from each other.

To Dale North, I wish nothing but luck in what's going to be a difficult and exciting time ahead. To Conrad Zimmerman and Jonathan Holmes, CHUNGUS CHUNGUS CHUNGUS. But seriously, you two are my friends, my very dear friends. To Chris Carter, you are Lil' Pumpy. To Jordan Devore, your work is astonishing. To Hamza Aziz, god you look hot in a suit. To everybody I've worked with at Destructoid over the years -- thank you. Thank you.

To Niero Gonzalez, my friend, and the one man I've truly called Boss ... my fealty is hard-won, and you made it look effortless.

So what is in my future? Well, I will still be bringing you video content in the form of Jimquisition, Movie Defense Force, Rhymedown Spectacular, and the JimSterling YouTube channel. I also am not done as a games critic. I still need an actual friggin' job, right, and I'm not good at anything else. Yes, I know many of you think I suck even at reviewing, but I still plan to be deeply involved in the process of videogame criticism, wherever I end up. It'll just be a job far more focused on exactly that, at a rate I can commit to.

I still remain a friend to Destructoid, and a personal chum of everyone there. And there's nothing saying you won't see us share a stage again.

Sincere love to everybody,
Jim Sterling.

Jim Sterling does manage to write up a decent -- or at least interesting -- article once in while.

Which is more than can be said of most other games journalists, really.

(Even though I more often that not disagree with JS's actual analysis.)

Jim Sterling was the anti-Jason Schreier of Destructoid.

Literally one of the few voices of reason left.

Sterling wasn't 100% popamole free, but he was one of the better journalists out there. That's not a high bar to set, I know, but eh.

Well, I think my problem with him is that he's obviously passionate about what he does, as opposed to the spineless journos that do this shit so they can veg out playing vidya while sucking down MD and doritos, but he's smart enough, I think, that he shouldn't fall into the popamole traps.
