As per this newspost on EoT.

There's some really interesting stuff there. About 7 or 8 pieces that looks like it could fit their next game. Thought this interest people, and maybe make for a few q's on yer dev chat, come tuesday.

Nice, thanks for the tip, W. So, post-apoc, huh? "Series of concepts revolving around a barren location. Can't say too much about it. " Mmm, barren locations :) Go, Troika!

Bloody Hell! When I heard sci-fi I was hoping for "shiny" sci-fi rather than post-apoc sci-fi. Its o.k. though, the disapointment will wear off.

Nothing is set in stone, folks--Troika is still looking for a publisher to pick up their "very different sci-fi game" so we can't say for sure if this is what'll be made in the end.

But part of the fun is in speculating, no? That said, if the game is picked up they'll most likely have a full development cycle which means a game sometime in 2006/7.

Ya, I was kinda hoping for "dark/brooding" cyberpunk sci fi. Oh well, I guess. I'm still pretty curious though. While "barren" kinda rules out cyberpunk (maybe), it could be lots of other types of scifi and not necessarily post apoc (though another post apoc wouldnt necessarily be unwelcome - Id just like a fresher setting). Barren could simply take place on a barren planet ala-Dune or maybe even in space - possibilities are endless really. Im just happy someone is making a sci fi rpg again! Man, Ive always been a fan of sci fi pop fiction (especially classic era stuff by LeGuin, Haldeman, Card, etc) and this really has me revved up.

Those images definitely reek of strange sci-fi.

Weird post apoc would be cool. Real cool.

I was hoping for space RPG, but this ought to do.

You know, if it does end up being a post-apoc sci fi, part of me wants it to be like fallout in terms of length, and the other part wants it as long as arcanum was. Not sure, what do you guys think? If the game is too long we may lose interest in the main plot, or lose sight of it, but if its too short, we may feel like we were cheated. Feedback

Just because there are ruins doesn't mean it's all going to be like that, might be a desert between cities. Cyber-punk usually has large cities built after wars? The 3d art of the desert dude could have been from dune but he had yellow eyes or something.

Chicago. And damn anyone who is not the same.
I am a little tired, so Ill save everyone the work and just type the next following responses myself.
"You know, the Dark Ages had barren locations!"CCR
"Shut up" Interchangable Spazmo, XJEDX, Deathy
"I know"CCR.

Seriously, it is good to know they are once again doing something daring. I dont plan to buy TOEE or Vampire: Shitlines because both of them sound quite bland, dispite TOEE's combat. My dream though is of Arcanum 2.......now with Turks.

Shut-up, they didn't have big bridges back then. :)

Arcanum 2 with a quantum leap in game balance and a nicer looking engine and I'm happy.

Well, at least you didn't mention the Byzantines.

Anyone think that it's a D20 modern game??

it would make sense to me as they already have an engine that can support D20 DnD....the modifications needed to make a D20 modern game shouldn't be to complex (less then building an engine fromt he ground up at least)....

I don't know if you guys looked at the "post apoc" pics, but a lot of them feature greenery; this would be a different concept compared to any post apoc worlds I've ever seen, except for those Gia World books.

Troika isn't BioWare, so I doubt they use d20 again. d20 has to be licensed from WotC/Hasbro in order to make a CRPG using it, so they'd end up having the same censors hanging around them that removed all the interesting content from ToEE.

No, I don't think it's d20 modern at all.

I cna't beleive people are using the fact that TOEE was rated T as an exuse for the shoddy writing. There are plenty of good games with good stories, interetsing characters, and the liked rated T.

The biggest problem I have is the push to remove the M content right at the last moment. That is just plain silly.
