Well they didn't give up any info on it in the dev chat, except that they enjoyed the pictures a bunch. :|

Tim said his greenlight to discuss the new game was redlighted.

Volourn, if the game kept its rating then it wouldn't have the gutted feel to it. I am sure the game would have been much better if the game was designed for Teen from the beginning or the game kept all of its M rated material in it. Having the game gutted like this was simply a bad move by Atari.

A very bad move.

That is true, and like I said, doing this so late in the game is very silly on Atari's part. This stuff should have been ironed out when Atari and Troika signed the contract.

Perhaps you're right in that the problem is a muddy contract -- that would definitely explain lots of the strange things that the publisher is doing to the game. If that is the case though, I hope Troika learns something from it and be more meticulous in its next contract.

I'm not even going to hope for Atari to learn something. . . :?

The d20 license would not allow Hasbro any control over content, at least not to the degree they have over a plain d&d license.

While I have not looked into the fine print of the so-called “open gaming license” that the d20 system is published under, it would have a lot more freedom.

Then again if they were using some currently out of print world (I.E. gamma world) then Hasbro would in fact probably be able to Mr. Potato it.

So if any Troika guys are reading this, and you care what one random person on a random news board thinks, please do not involve Hasbro in another game. The costs are not worth it.

Though (for once) I agree with Volourn, the quality of the writing in ToEE is not the same (yet…still have yet to see the full game) as the writing in Arcanum. While this is partially explained by the gutting, from what I understand the places that were gutted were not in the beginning of the game, and so the (in my opinion) bland writing would still be there.

Though it really does capture the feel of playing a d&d game at a convention, so I guess that might have been what they were going for.

Soon as I am level ten though, I am going back and killing all of these stupidly naive farmers who ask a total stranger for help to make up for the fact that my only choice currently is to help them and grow in power, or ignore them and get nothing.

I haven't been able to play the full game yet either. I got it at the store and installed it so far but there seems that major parts of the game is missing. The whole lack of children yet talking about children really disturbs me. The sheer level of amateurness of this game is appalling.
