20+ hour game, max. Calling it right now.

That would be great though.
A low game-time could cut out the tedium but it doesn't guarantee it. And I'm sure most people here was expecting a more "full" cRPG. If Athelas is right, I have to scratch my head at the very cheap looking art, world map and the lack of information. 2 years for..

I'm just being skeptical. A 20h budget game is more than enough for me, but I don't usually expect it from Obsidian.

I don't know man. Looks better to me than PoE. At least it has interesting setting in which something interesting happens.

Also thing to notice. Pillars of Eternity didn't have CGI promo trailer where this has.

Maybe PoE is budget title ?

I really hope there are essentially no "good" options to choose from. Just different flavors of evil.

Graphics look massively downgraded from PoE but it doesn't really matter.

Even the smallest of choices shape the land and its people. Tasked with making decisions that truly matter to theTiers and to the factions of Kyros’ army, you will develop a reputation based upon your deeds -- and you will find the world a drastically changed place each time you play Tyranny.

If this is true and they have great C&C, I'm really looking forward to it.

So this being a collaboration, what is which company's work?

Probably both companies money and Obisidian work then they will split earnings according to work/money put into it.
If things will go good, paradox and obsidian will have money and they may join up to something else like Bloodlines 2.

It's basically the Ted Cruz of video games.

The setting looks p. banal.

Nothing looks banal for me.

Weird world which kind of reminds me of conan barbarian deserts, you work as kind of judge for evil guys, there are various factions which probably will make war between them, then they say about C&C where each play-trough should be different.

On surface it is probably orcs and shit. But i think this is way more subversed to treat it like for example PoE bog standard clishe world.

Liking what I sees so far, though proof o puddin is in ateing o course, cautiously optimistic an don't really mind graphics as they seem to do job which is all I need. Gotta wonder why they dint go wi someat like this for Kickstarter, obviously had some work already done on it, though I expect theres a few years o work to do.

Looks like worlds ad a few cataclysms an such, I do love to stick weird chasms an abysses in me gameworld so I approve.

I never played Pillars, I was trying to look at this game in a more general sense. But, it does have a more interesting sounding hook, I just don't like the art so far. It reminds me of some flash games. The gameplay screens are definitely telling a different story, but I fear we might see similar areas recycled? Too little to judge and not much to say.

I like being skeptical, means I don't have to be disappointed. :D

Visuals just look like generic fantasy with vague greek aesthetics inspiration. The whole black and white morality thing really doesn't go well with me either.

There's a white morality? In the conference Heins literally said "what if there is no struggle between good or evil"

What white ? Pr material pretty much says that there won't be "white" here just shades of gray and black.

edit:

i wonder if some of paradox devs colaborated on setting.

If there's evil...

You are assumed to be evil. Not by any perspective but actually evil to varying degrees.

Codex 2014
Steam page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/362960/

Features:
  • A branching narrative with a unique story in an original setting: The Battle between good and evil has already taken place, and evil stands victorious.
  • Choices matter - a different player experience every time you play it - As an Officer in the Overlord’s army you wield a vast amount of power in the occupied lands of the Tiers. Will you use that power to inspire stability and loyalty, or will you be a feared oppressor?
  • Challenging, classic RPG combat with modern mechanics and presentation
  • A rich original setting - a completely new and original fantasy world with rich lore and many paths to follow

Still vague about the combat.

It's "classic".

Also, there are two trailers there but one is broken?

It looks somewhat cartoonish compared to PoE, kinda like those pixel art indies.
