Why should I read through your readme files when the makers of the True patch has already done so?

Because your the one insulting him with baseless insults and attacks on his work you fucktard

We did in fact use many of Wesp's scripts when we created the original version of our patch. Those scripts already contained many legitimate bug fixes, so we saw no reason not to draw from them. Those scripts are also laced with comments from Wesp, in which he cites his own name all over the place within those scripts.

Well, they did in fact use _all_ of my scripts and I added comments with my name attached only because this is common to mark where and what you were doing.

In many other cases, the changes Wesp made were inappropriate and Acrimonious changed those entries back to what Troika wanted them to be.

Now I guess it's a matter of opinion what "inappropriate" is and judging from the state the game was released in and the way Troika handled their own patches (just look at all the changes they did to TOEE), how should anyone know what Troika had wanted had they have had more time to do their own patches?

Acrimonious still had a degree of respect for Wesp back then. For all I know, he still does... respect Wesp, that is.

Yes, he does. We are right now in contact on the GameBanshee forums because I think he underestimates the work he will have to face when doing all from scratch, especially as some people probably would not believe him anyway because he could always just look at my files and comments and reproduce them. In fact it turned out that he wanted to include my patch readme with proper credits like agreed upon all along which would have prevented this whole conflict and it was Tessera who didn't honour his promise!

Acrimonious is a trooper. He has worked his butt off on our True VTMB Patch, adding no less than 100 additional megabytes of bug fixes and restored content (...).

Another 100 MB of fixes and restored content? I don't think so ;)! Anyway, I have nothing against Acrimonious or an alternative bug-fixes-only patch and I even renewed my offer to use my patch as a base as long as the "true" name is changed and the original readme with proper credits is included. Now let's see what happens...

Who gives a flying fuck if they used your code? People obviously don't want some of the features so why are you shoving them down people's throats.

Your 'patches' do some good work, but lots of retarded things as well.

As for what they would have done with enough time, they would make a whole new game with enough time as do, apparently, would you. If you want to do that call it a mod and don't mix it in with the patch.

Fuckwit.

I'll give you three bad changes:

The one about Making Love with Jeanette. - Perverted.

The constant replacement of the katana (?). - To me displays a bit of uncertainty about what to really do with the game. By putting it in a new place, Wesp5 says himself that he fucked up on the previous placement.

The giving XP for not killing anybody while planting the bomb talked about in the other thread. - Whether Troika intended it to be that way or not, it's stupid, and I like to believe that Troika took it out because it sucked.

Those three were fixed (I believe) by the true patch, and none of them were very good ideas. Happy now?

If there are three, one of which nobody seemed really aware of before I pointed it out, then I doubt there aren't more of them. Which is enough for me, I don't know about you.

At the same time, I think what Tessera is doing now is insane, redoing it all from the start would be the same as me reading the readme. Somebody has already done it, and I have not seen any complaints against their new work (except inane debates about whether Troika intended something when they did something completely else), so I guess I trust them.

Jesus Christ tessera is being even more of a drama whore now than he was on WoW, and let me tell you, he was a pretty humongous whore for drama then. I vote for Wesp and Acrimonious to join forces even though I have no plan to replay Vampire. I just want to know just how big of a hissy fit that jackass will pull when you two tell him.

Oh?

I do not see him posting so far, only Wesp that seems to dislike the idea ANYONE making a patch for VtM:B ...

I understand why they decide to do EVERYTHING from the start but will it shut up some people? not because flaming Tessera is more important (and hell, in this forum were posting sneak links to shock images is common practice).

no, but this whole "fine! we'll be absolutely stupid and start over!" rants on his website, especially when he does absolutely jack shit on the mods themselves, is already funny / annoying. I imagine him in a female leather vampire suit with fake rubber boobies poking out and a whip lashing a poor unknown nerd to work faster on his complete reengineer because the mighty Tess has a flamewar to win damnit! and I just laugh and laugh and laugh. Until I realize exactly how fucking idiotic the whole thing is. And I do mean the WHOLE thing, including the shitty mod wesp calls a patch in the first place.

Tessera might be a weirdo, but he doesn't include his weirdness in the patches, which makes me prefer the patches published by him. The fact that you don't see anything wrong with the addition of the Jeanette love making is bad enough.

Did you just quote a list of 10 million things because you didn't agree with two of them? What an idiot.

I do like Tessera's way of portraying wesp as a cruel tyrant actively seeking out and crushing all who dare challenge his dominion. How dare he ask to be given credit for the hours of work he has put into his personal project.

Does wesp not appreciate the thousands of dollars the fans have poured into his pockets through his free patches and mods!

obediah, yes I did, though more than two are bad. I only know about two or three of the bad ones.

I did it for Wesp5, if he wants me to have to get his fucked up mod to get rid of the bugs, he gets my fucked up extra text to get my two (that I'm sure of) complaints.

Are you sure Tessera isn't your alt mathboy. Wesp doesn't get paid for his mod/patch. He's doing it in his own time for his own amusement. He doesn't own you jackshit and probably doesn't give a damn if you use his mod or throw a tantrum on a forum about it.

mathboy's nerdrage in this thread is awesome. That it is unfounded in personal experience makes it pretty much internet gold

I don't care whether the pervert Wesp5 does get paid or not. All I know is that I PAID when I bought Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines in 2004 (actually I got it for Christmas). And when I paid for that game, I paid for a game which was a bit buggy, not as bad as some claimed, I didn't notice any of them.

Naturally I want the bugs to be fixed, but you pirates killed Troika before they were. So, if I want to replay the game today, I'd need to turn to other sources. The main one being, up until a couple of days ago, Wesp5, who thinks it's a good idea to force Jeanette's naked body down my throat. If I'd have to get his patch to play the game again, I'd like him to pay me to do it.

And I don't get what your whining about, he didn't get paid because he's stupid enough to believe that we want Jeanette, instead of going to work for Troika, making the patch, then maybe they'd still be alive today.

Now that Tessera has made a mod without the bullshit, why don't you praise him instead of bashing his, kind of sad, past? Her patch is the one worth paying for if any of them is. Think about it like a newspaper. The ones filled with advertisements are free, while the ad-free ones cost a lot of money. Wesp5 added fucked up things like being able to have fuck Jeanette no matter what you did, along with lots of other fuck-ups, which I like to consider as bad as (possibly worse than) the ads (because they attack my game-play). Then Tessera removes the adds and you bash it.

You could also think of it like Kazaa. Kazaa was filled with spy-ware, then Kazaa Lite came along, and pirates were able to get the goodness of Kazaa without having their computers fucked up. Naturally the Kazaa developers (Wesp5) were angry at the wonderful rescuers (Tessera).

God damn you are stupider than the average poster here, you fucking idiot. You don't have to download or install anything. You even said that you hardly noticed any bugs when you played through the first time. Wesp spend a long time fixing things, and if you don't like his fixes, don't install his patch you fucking retard.

And if every game guru insists on calling his patch a mod, then why don't they call patches that mod far more than wesps patch that are released by developers mods instead of patches. So, devs can only release patches, even if that changes the game play significantly. Fans, who get paid nothing, either make patches that do not add or change any gameplay elements (which removes the term patch from the true patch since it adds in the background things and adds in dialogues) or mods. And a mod can be any change no matter how mino?

You fucking retard, Tessera didn't do SHIT besides forever tainting the work of Acrimonious by hosting it in his shitty digital porn website. If you're championing one thing against another, the least you could fucking do is acknowledge the fucking people that actually made the work you're championing.

Not that I necessarily agree with mathboy's position but weren't you the one who couldn't tell the difference between a patch and something that's closer to being a partial conversion because leaving that semantical nonsense would invalidate the whole point behind your rants - rants which were eventually proven pointless?

Just don't choose the colourcoded (pink) seduction line during a dialogue in her bedroom, mkay? And you never get to see her naked body anyway. Unless Tessera got a nudeskin on his site (which seems likely), and you install it (which would seem unlikely, if one assumed that you were actually a lot smarter than your posts).

Though if Therese is killed, and one does visit Jeanette after her email bootycall, the sex seems inescapable. Perhaps it was always like that? Either way it felt kind of buggy to have every conversation end in the 'blackout sex moaning and giggling'. Even when my PC during conversation seemed to bore Jeanette, because he couldn't come up with the kind of exciting 'games' she wanted to play. So she'd tell him to leave, and as dialogue ends, the sex begins. Stupid, I say. But what do you expect of not one, but two malkavians?

Sure, I guess so. Aren't you the one who picked a side in a news post and slighted someone who spend hours fixing a game for free?

Lets just state the facts:

The One True Patch still modfies the game. Yet its a patch? You can pick and choose the mods to the games you like, like the background stories, and dismiss the ones you don't like. Wesp did it with a fixing narrative, not a changing narrative. The new content is in both patches.

Why are the mods dev's release that mix bug fixes and modify gameplay called patches?

If people don't like the work people do for free, then fuck off. SLamming the hours of work someone slaved to add to a game is bullshit, siding with a drama fag who won't even give credit to the work of that person is bullshit. It looks like old man internet just might have slid the drama cock into your ear and fucked your brain.

All I'm asking for is people to be reasonable. Someone who worked hard to improve a game on his own time on his own dollar doesn't deserve to get slack for it. If you don't like the changes, now you have a choice of another patch that inclused less changes. That is 100% based off the fake patch's work, the patch you slighted for absolutley no reason at all.

I did make some false assumptions, and I admitted it before anyone else caught it, because my goal is for everyone to be normal, not for me to win. Wesp deserves our credit and thanks for all the hard work he did. Terresa and whoever is doing the work for her also deserves thanks for providing an option. Its bullshit of Terresa to be a drama queen and to not want to give credit to the person whose work they are going off of.

You want to call one a patch, and the true patch at that, and the other a mod, when, according to what everyone says a patch is, they are both mods. Or both patches. Who gives a fuck. I'll change my lingo and call one a patch and the other a mod if you can explain why, consistently and coherently, when both modify the orginal game why one is a patch and the other a mod. And also why dev's patches that mod the game are called patches.

I might have some unpopular views but I can explain them and back it up with examples 100%. Either a patch adds nothing new or its a mod. Maybe one is more modish and one more patchish, but they are either both patches or both mods. Unless of course, you rely on the magic that makes people right without an explanation that seems to be very popular on the internet.

Yes, let's see your "facts".

Roqua said:

Weren't you the one who has no factual point on my perceived slight against Wesp, despite the fact that no attack against him or his work was made on my behalf? Weren't you the one that repeatedly whines about me having pointed out his work does more than simple just bug fixing, when this is a known fact? Great job, chucklehead: Wesp himself acknowledges his works don't just fix the game but also modify other aspects of the game. In your delusional mind, I'm slighting Wesp for saying the very same thing he says about his works.

Sorry kid, juvenile libel isn't fact.

I'll change my lingo and call one a patch and the other a mod if you can explain why, consistently and coherently, when both modify the orginal game why one is a patch and the other a mod. And also why dev's patches that mod the game are called patches.

Do you really need to be told that a patch is a modification designed to modify a game with the sole intention of fixing issues such as bugs, stability or balance; whereas a modification is designed to alter the gameplay without the intention of fixing it? Again, and despite having been told otherwise several times, you've firmly planted yourself in the same argument using nothing but semantics to try and make a point - except you've yet to realize no one is as stupid as you that they can't tell the difference between a patch and Team Fortress.

It's also why, in fact, I've refered to Wesp's work as more than a patch since it does both what a mod and a patch do. I didn't neglect the bugfixes and acknowledged the additions he included, regardless of enjoying them or not.

siding with a drama fag who won't even give credit to the work of that person is bullshit.

Since when is making a news post about somebody else's work siding with that person? As per my post over at RPG Watch:

The news post, and subsequent posts of mine in the comments thread, were made with two things in mind. First, the patch author refers to it as a true patch and that's pretty much the established nomenclature, just as much as Wesp usually refers to his works as unofficial patches. Also, the intention wasn't to claim each one is right but rather, to point out that one of the patches more closely follows its namesake than the other - Acrimonious' work is made with the intention of fixing or restoring content, whereas Wesp's work is made with the same intention as well as to provide other changes based on input or community requests - which may not address problems at all.

Which one is the "right" one is entirely up to the end user who decides to use them. But one of them does a lot more than simple patching and I believe I needed to point out the differences. After all, there wouldn't be much of a point in bringing up another patch to the community if it didn't do anything different or if it didn't focus on anything else.

Great logic, Roqua: making a news post about a community patch that tries to stick to patching instead of both patching and providing a suite of gameplay modifications is "siding" with them. Sorry chuckles, that's not a fact: that's your bullshit assumptions trying to cover up your lack of facts.

You want to call one a patch, and the true patch at that, and the other a mod, when, according to what everyone says a patch is, they are both mods. Or both patches. Who gives a fuck.

Apparently you do, otherwise you wouldn't be here bitching about this. Or did you forget you're the one who keeps returning to this? And if you were actually interested in "facts", you'd have noticed I refered to each work as their creators called them. "True patch" and "unofficial patch" is the exact name their creators use. If you have a problem against their nomenclature take it to their creators and stop bitching at me because I refer to them by their actual names.

I might have some unpopular views but I can explain them and back it up with examples 100% stupid and non-factual.

Fixed.

Isn't that the point? That mathboy doesn't like Wesp's patch, hence him not installing it, hence him installing the nude elf mod makers one instead?

Feel free to randomly add in a few "fucking retards" and "stupid cunts" into that sentence if it makes you feel better.

Bit of gender confusion there, but I don't blame you, I'm not even sure Tessera knows what sex it is.

Wesp5 added fucked up things like being able to have fuck Jeanette no matter what you did

Wesp aims for consistency in the game, and to be honest, based on Jeanette's freakishly slutty personality, it makes sense that she'd fuck you, if only to serve as further encouragement to slash the paintings for her, and it improves her attitude towards you. Role-playing wise, it seems plausible to me.

As for the true patch, the fact that infinitely respawning enemies appearing right in front of you would be back in the game (since that's appearantly what Troika wanted), I'm already turned off by it.

Okay you fucking nancy lets review talk about facts:

While it's always nice to see fan communities support developers, the fan efforts of the Bloodlines community have mostly been unsactioned modifications and arbitrary changes to the game with some bug fixes thrown in. However, it has come to my attention the existence of a true Bloodlines patch that finally does what a patch should do - stick to fixing the bugs and restoring content. Created by a VtmB fan, Acrimonious, and hosted by Tessera at her his webspace, the patch aims to restore Troika's game to its full glory. This True Patch is currently at version 4.02AT and you can find more about it here:

Maybe in a magical land where leprechauns prance around pot’s o’ gold, use rainbows for toilet paper, and farts smell like pretty poetry could your news post not be construed as picking sides or not slighting wesp. But in this land, the world we live in, any fair minded person will see that it does both. So, maybe I don’t have one of your magical gayland factual points, I have an actual factual point based on actual fact straight from the horses mouth.

I know what wesp’s mod does, half this thread is the patch notes, and I also know what the One True Patch does, and they both modify the game. So calling one a patch and one a mod when one is more modish than patchish just seems a little retarded to me. Or, in magic gayland does the One True Patch only fix bugs and do nothing else? Damn, another factual fact based on actual fact.

Or are you just so fucking blind from living in magic gayland were actual factual facts are not important that your retarded opinion overrides the truth and turns your nonsense into fact, you pansy ass fucking retarded cocksucking bitch.

Lets check dictionary.com for clarification

Patch:
Computer Science To correct a bug in (an item of software), especially as a temporary correction between releases.

Mod:
This abbreviation is very common - in fact the full terms are considered formal. "Mods" is used especially with reference to bug fixes or minor design changes in hardware or software, most especially with respect to patch sets or a diff.

Interesting. Seems like you should shut the fuck up. Both patches change the game. Just because you like what the one patch adds and not the changes of the other doesn’t mean you should discredit the hard work of the people that made your One True Patch possible, you fucking idiot. Stop being so dramatic and stupid. Who can’t see that this is a non-issue, and the only people that are wrong are the dramatic ball fondlers like you and Terresa (and mathboy) who put down a person who worked hard for free and just wanted to get credit for it. Both patches being available give people a choice, and more choices are always good. Slamming people that spend their free time fixing broke games so people can play them isn’t what reasonable people do. You fucked up, you are on the side of stupid. Both patches mod the game and add new content to it. Besides that, one changes other things a little, the other doesn’t. You don’t get it, unless the One True Patch removes its modifications according to you it isn’t a patch, but is a mod. But in magical gayland that isn’t true.

If an alternative to Co8 ToEE patch came out that removed all the mods that patch does, but kept all the bug fixes and restored content in (modifications to the released game) and did it just by stripping the Co8 patch, would you have slammed Co8 for making their patch or “not doing what a patch is supposed to do?” Probably, because you are a giant prick, but that wouldn’t make it any less fucked up. Co8 poured their blood, sweat, and tears into the patch, and anyone not giving them credit by just removing the mods from their patch and calling it a True Patch would not only be fucked up, but really fucked up. It’s the same situation here.

You don’t like the changes he made, that’s fine, don’t slam his work though, or invalidate his work. Just use the new option you have without being a gigantic prick. Stop being such a dramatic bitch also.

Mod? Patch? Why are we arguing about things that are unimportant?

Let's keep to the things that are important.

Namely:

(a) Tessera is a fucking drama whore bitch queen that we should be making fun of, not pandering to.

(b) Not acknowledging someone else's work when you incorporate it into your own is pretty fucking shitty. It is plagiarism. I know I would be fucking chasing up the cunt responsible if it was my work (directed at you Jim, you fucktard).

(c) See (a).

There is one case where it was clear that some dialogue was simply unfinished, but that it was most definitely intended. That dialogue is clan-specific, so yours truly has been called upon to write a few lines of that dialogue from scratch. Specifically, it's Malkavian dialogue. The other clans DO have dialogue for the situations involved, but the Malk dialogue was never completed. So... I've written some of it myself. Before anyone raises their eyebrows, this is in fact restoring missing content and it SHOULD be included in a patch. As for my part, I'm a skilled writer and I promise that the lines that I have written will be in exactly the same style as those written by Troika for Malks. You'll never even notice. I've been playing Malks exclusively for a very long time and at this point, I'm beginning to think like one... LOL
And there you have it.
