:salute: ggty. Stay tuned for return of the potato. In hindsight, I made a lot of mistakes that should've been obvious - rookie or not. I sent my initial forces out with no AA or artillery support, wasted my Aircraft on ill-timed missions and tried to go toe-to-toe with T-80s using T-55s. Not to mention not guarding my FoB ofc. :P

Up for a game later, DP?

-How can I tell which unit can capture zones?
-When I deployed my Su-22, I was unable to spot ground units unless they were AA that were firing at me, what's up with that?
EDIT: Another question, regarding resources, how does it build up?

Command Units at your logistic tab can capture zones. They have a star next to their name.

You gain points by controlling zones. A zone has a number above it's name, ie 5. So you gain 5 points if you capture that zone per...not sure how many seconds.

Air Units are unable to spot ground units effectively, especially if they are in woods, where they cannot lock on to them with infrared missiles. Cluster bombs are a different story though. They can see units firing at them though. It's a good thing else planes would be overpowered and it encourages players to use recon and plan ahead, not rush in like retards with T-55/Leo1 spam like in old 1v1 EE games.

A good tactic is to have recon on the enemy AA and either send a swarm of planes against it or buratino/rocket artillery it (most missile AA has some armor) and then he is defenseless against air raids until he bring up another AA unit or calls in planes of his own.

So it's generally a good idea to have your AA spread, like a net. Same with most of your units really, having them all bunched up close together will probably get them all stunned when those artillery shots shit. Or killed.

There are T-80U command units too, you derp. If you open your logistics tab you will see, in the default soviet deck, a t-80 u varian with a star next to it.

No command vehicle = no zone occupation.

10 V 10 IS OUT!!!!

Played 3 games so far with my clan, me and a bro got this massive offensive to defend against in the center, tons of fun. At some point there were over 70 tanks fighting it over in the front of echo and a bloody infantry house to house combat with sappers and flamethrowers. Broken Arrow'd that place when the enemy overrun it.

ITZ HAPPENING, MANBOONS. SHIT JUST GOT REAL.

Are there any high range Ground-Ground missiles apart from artillery? Yesterday, got rushed by t-80s and couldn't do shit against them, even with several AT infantry units and vehicles equipped with AT missiles. Su-27 couldn't do shit against them, either.

tank spam is the equivalent of a zergling rush, you can defend against it but you need to know that it is coming.

Tank rushes aren't that strong per se, they become truly dangerous when coupled with preemtive sniping of your recon, shelling of your defence line to limit the accuracy of your ATGMs and dropping smoke on the pathway to your positions. T-80s have powerful frontal armor so it is a good idea to wait till they come close and flank them with your tanks at close range. And your ATGM infantry is denting T's armor, trust me. When the T's come close, they will be weakened enough to be one-shotted by your tanks. Missile choppas like Apaches are pretty strong as well but extremely cost-ineffective.

ATGM infantry and Leo 2s, Challengers or Abrams are the best defences against them. Rocket artillery is also good at panicking them, as are planes that use cluster bombs. SU-27 isn't a ground attack aircraft, it's used to take down enemy planes and kill radar AA.

Most people use radar AA and no SACLOS anti air so it's a good idea to kill it with planes like the Raven or the Su-HighNumba who have exceptional ECM then send in the Migs to rape them. You can do the same with choppers.

But yeah, recon is the best way of dealing with everything...because you know what's coming so you can prepare against it accordingly. You can also set up flanking fire positions with lower grade tanks, hide them in the woods then when the T-80s are past your position move them close to their sides so you can take full advantage of their lower AP power by closing the distance and firing on their flanks.

Trust me, the enemy usually panics when that happens.

Look at support vehicles, like tows and Jaguars for NATO and BMPs for pact. (best thing about pact is that you can bring infantry in BMP-2s, drop them in woods then use the IFVs themselves to set up anti-tank positions.

But atgm infantry is still your best bet, since enemy atgm can't do anything against them. Suppression and artillery is the problem though which is why you should keep their APCs close to them and shift positions each time to avoid artillery fire.

Air launched missiles (helo or jet)? I dunno, I haven't played the game.

EDIT: Maverick and Hellfire missiles both have longer range and are in the time period.

Guided goddamn missiles not lolaoe
All ATGM in the game (and in RL) have similar range, from 2000 to 3000 meters. I have no idea what you expect, science fiction weaponry?

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. Post Cold War weapon systems would be considered science-fiction if they were implemented in a Cold War era game. Even Springer's precursor was adopted well after the end of the CW. You can check out in-game hardware here.

Yeah, those are airborne.

So, any one (in Europe hopefully, because time zone) want to try the game and play with a newbie like me? I have a free gift copy of the game in my inventory. :)

The game being Airland, not EE. I'll be on steam in a couple of hours time, I can give it to you if you're on?
