PART 1: IN DEFENSE OF KPOP
:azn:
The situation is as follows. Great Leader has overtaken the manboonified south and only the port of Busan and the surrounding areas remain. NORKs have began attacking all across the front. If the port falls then there's no hope of the US managing any successful landings as the entire penisula will be under complete communist control.
We have an all around good force in the central sector made up of two infantry regiments, a fighter squadron and K1 heavy tank battalion.
Controlling the city between Bravo and Yeongdaeok is paramount. The urban area between geochang and bravo is too big to hold against the massive korean forces but a stalling force will be deployed there to cause as much damage as possible. The riverline must be held at all costs however.
NORK IFVs begin entering the town with their artillery and mortars throwing smoke cover to deny our tanks and infantry visibility.
The K1s begin targeting the IFV platoons crossing the bridge instead.
Meanwhile, in the middle, ROK infantry has managed to pull off a very good ambush, destroying a whole IFV platoon with their infantry still inside them and destroying a force of NORK conscripts. But their RPGs are out of ammo and they are now defenseless against mechanized forces.
A platoon of K1 tanks crosses the river to support them, suffering beneath a heavy artillery barrage in the meantime, and encounters another force of NORK IFVs who are armed with anti-tank guide missiles.
NORK infantry and more IFVs arrive and the ROK infantrymen in the city are now doomed. The tanks are pulled out of range of NORK RPGs and are now trying to find a way around the smoke barrage and destroy those VTT IFVs.
Meanwhile, in the eastern sector, more IFV platoons begin crossing the riverline as well as a force of anti air guns. Infantry reinforcements are ordered there to bolster the defense.
A force of K1 tanks is also called in but NORK morale has fallen due to their heavy losses so it's only a matter of time before they disengage.
In the middle sector, the infantry has been butchered, leaving the tanks alone and targeted by artillery.
With NORK infantry blocking their escape route to Bravo, the only way they can go is northwards to try and break through the IFVs and AA guns and escape towards Yeongdeok.
Only one out of two K1s make it through.
Meanwhile, things are getting heated up in the east as large forces of NORK IFVs assault the town amidst a hail of ROK tank and RPG fire. They are thrown back across the bridge.
With their morale destroyed and suffering crippling losses, the NORKs call off their attack. Worst Korean casualties are insignificant.
The next battle however will be a hard one. Heavily outnumbered and lacking any sort of AA cover against a force of SU bombers, a single ROK armored regiment has to hold the line and protect the approach to Busan.
Thankfully we have a small force of attack helicopters that will come in handy. 4 K1 tanks are deployed at the main zone and a single one is left to defend the approaches to the north. If the need arises, the choppers will be sent there to support it.
Recon spots a huge force of NORK armor moving up. The 4 K1s are heavily outnumbered but their superior range, penetration and accuracy will give them an edge if we put them in cover in any of the nearby forested areas.
The K1s begin to fire but the SUs are about to make a bad day even worse.
Even though they did not manage to destroy them, the K1s are effectively put out of action, suffering heavy damage and causing their crews to panic. They are pulled back for repairs while the rest of the armor and the helicopters cover them.
The NORKs suffer heavy losses as their advance is bogged down in an uneven exchange of fire. But the SUs arrive once again.
Another bombing mission manages to take out the command chopper in the Daegu zone, cutting off the reinforcement routes there.
The NORKs are now advancing once again on both sides, trying to capture the Daegu zone and call in reinforcements from there and advancing towards Busan as well. With the K1s pulled back to repair, the choppers try to cause as much damage to the NORK armor as they can.
The single K1 manages to take out the enemy command vehicle but it won't stand a chance if those 6 tanks decide to cros the river.
Meanwhile, in the Busan zone, the K1s have almost finished their repairs and will soon be ready to re enter the battle.
The K1 manages to take down two NORK tanks before an SU bombing mission forces it to abandon the defense of the bridge.
The K1s begin to reverse as masses of enemy armor begin closing the range. More and more appear.
Suffering from bombers and enemy tank fire, they soon have to pull back and a couple more K1s are called in to help hold the final defense line.
NORK tank wrecks.
And a final SU bombing run manages to take out the heroic K1 that held the riverline against 6 enemy tanks.
The NORK offensive has failed completely, having lose over 37 tanks for the loss of only 2 ROK ones and two supply helicopters.
