I don't understand that bullshit about "not affecting the game balance". What does it even mean? All it really tells me is that the bonus skill won't be overpowered compared to the others, but it still means you'll have one less option if you purchase the game at release. I mean, taking the sneak skill out of Fallout wouldn't affect the game balance, but you'd lose an option.

Did Bloody Mess affect game balance in any way? No, it didn't.

Shut the fuck up and pay up then. You're whining about a proposed feature in a nonexistent game, still early in conception about having game imbalancing trait? Seems like every Codexian needs to be emotionally engaged at anything these days. Sheeeesh.

Read the fucking thread you spastic.
Well, the $50 one sounds good as you get a boxed copy. The $75 point seems interesting as you get into the beta and get a novella too. $100 is as far as I'll go though, getting the collectors edition with stuff like a soundtrack. Everything after that? Don't care.

Nope. And I hope that's the kind of thing they plan for. Or perhaps some skill to to gain access to an Easter egg location. Basically, nothing that is significant enough to bring about a different play style.

Bloody Mess did give you an interesting option at a certain point, concerning an individual that's hard to kill.

You will also get a special skill and weapon only available to those who helped fund the project.

This is just so wrong but it is as Elwrobro said.

Become an NPC, Weapon or Location in the Wasteland 2 world!

I WANT TO BE A DRAGONfly !

You're mistaken; the Steam version comes with a .pdf manual, as do most games. Though it may be abridged compared to the 50$ donation manual.
It's obvious to me that you have to pay 50$ for a thick paper manual, box and map. I would gladly pay that for a retail game.

In fact, I paid much more than that for RoA 1 in a game store when I was much, much younger. And never regretted it.

Why are you being so negative and obtuse about this? This ought to be one of the best news in the RPG genre in years and you guys piss all over it.

RoA1 had a really boring manual, though. The system could have been simpler and more streamlined without losing anything from the depth and thus the manual could end up 25% shorter.

I hope all those donator-based statues will be kept in one place, a memorial or some such. And they should have some kind of humorous inscriptions on them maybe. It'd be weird having them all over the world.

Thanks to everyone that contributed in the last rewards post. We got some great feedback and made some adjustments to the rewards. A few of the highlights are :

DRM Free!
The skill and weapon for supporters will not affect the game balance but will absolutely be entertaining
Added a Wasteland 2 poster to a 'light' level
Added a digital concept art book
Did a solid pass on clarification of reward levels
We are excited to kick this off and will need your help to spread the word!

Thanks all,
Chris
I don't want to be too pedantic, but since Steam-requirement would be an exclusion criterion for me and I'd otherwise seriously consider the levels 50$ and 75$, I have to point out that Steam itself is DRM. Since I assume that they do not plan on dropping Steam, despite that quote I still have to ask:
Will the boxed versions require steam?

Pledge $1000 (150 max)
Previous rewards + Become an NPC

Oh god, imagine running into Skyway, that only speaks "banal.. shit.. boring.."
Prosper NPC.

"hopw roewur ne"

You could give him the face that never remembered.

The $50 through to $100 pledges seem really down my alley though. I like.

WE MUST MAKE THIS HAPPEN! A piece of our own Codex memorabilia in W2 and also our tribute to Prosper. Let's pool money for this!

1000$ is a bit high, though, I doubt there would be more than 20 people to pool towards this at all. But still, it's a nice idea, no?

Somebody tell them to provide a second executable that can run without triggering Steam.

Also, it would be hilarious if they made the game but were rejected by Steam, even if it's unlikely.

Please think about funding through RPGCodex it would help out a couple of guys that don't have access to CC. MAybe a way to get that prestigious statue or NPC/weapon/whatever ?

You guys should aim for having the Codex as a location rather than having a statue of the troll. Leave the statue for MCA's game.

You enter the elementary school basement and find a door with a poorly written cardboard sign: codɘx hedqurters. Inside, mutants lie helplessly on the floor, playing with feces. The stench is unbearable.

One of the mutants crawls toward you; "Hisssss! No boys allowed!"

Yeah. A ranger memorial of some sort for more serious contributions. For less serious contributions; how about a themepark? I already imagine patrolling the wasteland spotting a big codex troll statue on the entrance of a formerly themepark (and wishing for a nuclear winter...)

I've already included this among the questions we're going to send over to Fargo today. We'll see what he has to say about that.
Whether there's an option to get it outside Steam with the smaller pledges is important, too.

We already know the answer to that one, as found on the official forum: it is possible they may consider other platforms/means of digital distribution provided there will be enough funding. But okay, we'll ask again, just to be sure.

Exclusive content available only to supporters? Right out of the big publisher playbook. Might as well put in 24/7 DRM while they're at it, won't make any difference. Guess I'll get the Pirate Bay Edition if the game seems interesting enough.

You have a hard time doing research, don't you? If you haven't looked at the initial responses to DRM and supporter bonuses, and the fixes they made afterward, you would quickly see that DRM is out and that the starting weapon and skill will be strictly for entertainment purposes and have no impact on gameplay balance.

I never said there's DRM in it, I said "might as well." And I don't care if the content is "for entertainment purposes," it's the principle that counts.
