I've already started a new thread :salute: on the Wasteland 2 Forum:

Say NO to Rushed Development:
It's a bit worrying that in the recent RPS interview, Brain said that the development time would be "five months".

That seems

awfully short...

You should not feel pressured to show quick results, especially if it means sacrificing time needed to make the game better.

Please don't rush the game.
Its been 24 years since the original, we have no problems waiting for a worthy sequel.
I don't like rushed games either, but I suspect the artists and programmers they hire to finish up things won't be quite as patient as the fans waiting for the game when it comes to waiting for their pay.

Guys it was clear to me from the context of his sentence that they're going to spend five months in pre-production before they really get going. A five-month RPG, come on.

Oh and right here Brother None says it'll be about two years total.

I'm confused because there are two wasteland 2 forums, with people actively posting on both, this one:

http://wasteland.inxile-entertainment.com/forum

And then this one:

Wow, we've had these forums up for less than a day and the responses are incredible! We are afraid so many great ideas might get lost among the posts and discussions, so we've setup a Google Moderator site to allow you to offer up your suggestions. The great thing about Google Moderator, if you aren't familiar with it, is it allows the community to submit ideas and vote them up or down so we know which ones are the most important to you.

We'll still use these forums to float ideas and build a dialog, of course. We've setup Google Moderator to duplicate the topics here, please place your ideas in the proper sections. By all means, when you have an idea and discuss it, link to it in your posts so people can go to Google Moderator and vote on it if they like it.

Please add in your ideas for Wasteland 2 and vote on them here:

http://www.google.com/moderator/#16/e=1f7176

Thanks for being a part of Wasteland 2 development!
According to that post Google Moderator is duplicating topics from the inxile forum, but you can also make independent posts there. Also, I can't find a link back to the inxile forum post in order read the proposed idea (topic) in more detail (body of the post). GM also has a short character limit, so you can't create lengthy posts there.

It's a bit confusing. :?

Just to clarify, is Brother None now part of the dev team? Or just someone with an inside scoop?

Never played the first one but will look forward to this with great anticipation - loved both Fallouts. Yes, both of them.

160k. It's incredible how quick is this thing. I can basically refresh the page every couple seconds and there's always one or two backers more.

Still it's bound to slow down at some point. I'd wager they'll get 250-300k easily and it'll go uphill from that point as the informed fans start to dry up.

We should all hammer the link to the kickstarter page everywhere we can, make it viral.

The main issue is not whether the game is or is not going to be shit, though. The issue is whether in this day and age a professional turn- and party-based CRPG can be funded without publisher interference. Therefore, by donating, we are supporting the publisher-free game development model first and foremost. Failure to reach the $900,000 would mean all hope is lost.

i guess bro, the idea of publisherless games sounds good in theory

but if the publisherless games are still as shit as the publishered games then who cares

and once most of these internet funded games turn out to be shit im sure the hysteria will come to an end and people will lose interest in funding anything else

Exactly. I see donating to this meaning far more than donating toward a Wasteland 2. If this succeeds, we will certainly see the Obsidian Kickstarter game, and who knows what other developers might crawl out and start similar Kickstarter games?

Whether or not this Kickstarter is a success or failure could very well dictate the future of CRPGs. It would be a pretty humiliating scenario to be a well known developer and launch a Kickstarter campaign that fails, and if the WL2 project was a massive failure it would make others pretty wary of trying it too. However, if it was a massive success, you can sure as hell believe that others will try it.

I think the game will be enjoyable anyway.

:bro:

$15 doesn't normally go a long way but collectively it can. Those who purchased ME3 should donate $100+ for their transgressions against good games.

Well, personally, I'm donating for a chance, at least. Because without this whole Kickstarter thing, we wouldn't even have a chance. Now we have. It may disappoint us in the end, but at least we won't say we haven't tried.
