Just a quick question since it appears all of you have gone forward in time and experienced this new feature implemented in Wasteland 2...

...why exactly is this the end of the world, again?

Christ, this is pathetic. Why is there such an aversion for these people to create a party from scratch?

The poll results were way more one-sided earlier. Guess it's the BioWare-esque-fan-folk crawling out of the woodworks. It doesn't really matter, since the "BioWare style" and "solo all the way through" options are just kind of there for decoration, neither is really an actual option for InXile, to the best of my knowledge.

Oh, go play on the freeway with hoopy. This is my favorite game and I'm not going to answer to you about what's good about it or check to see what I can be outraged about. Either go play it and see or GTFO.

I don't even see why you care so much about a game you seem to think is stupid by a guy you thought no one had heard of and would never get funded.

Dude who the fuck are you talking to? NOT ME. Again, you have the wrong guy.

I am 34 years old, played Wasteland on the c64, and pledged $150 to the game so far and have been defending the WL2 Kickstarter likely before you even knew it was happening. SO AGAIN, I ASK YOU: What the bloody fucking hell are you talking about?

P.S. this is the second fucking time you've taken me for somebody who I am not yet last time I called you out on it you didn't respond. The fuck is wrong with you, sonny?

Hey, dumbfuck...guess what. Why don't you answer my question. I am not who you think I am. You are confusing me with somebody else.

You sad fucking clown.

Can't they easily make everyone happy by allowing 1-4 player created characters, with a total party size of up to 6? Then biotards can have 5 NPC recruits or play solo if they feel like it, while normal people can play the game as intended.

Yip. Certainly a possibility. But the game still wouldn't be balanced for a single guy, and I doubt you'll get all that many recruits thrown at you early, so it'd be pretty hard to survive. But hey, that's their problem, I guess.

That's what I' ve been thinking too. They could allow that, but force parties of one PC plus five NPCs to suck massive dicks via mechanics. Or write NPCs in such a way that no more than two will agree to be in the same party, and make three-person parties suck even more.

P.S.
In ToEE I've always tried to have as many NPCs in a party as I could. And sucked massive dicks.

Are you by any chance referring to the majority begging for gay romances and house-furnishing? I have a vague feeling they wouldn't mind some facebook integration as a cherry on the top.

I have a vague feeling that you're grasping at straws, since if you actually read the gay romance/house furnishing/social interaction threads, you'll find that for every supporter, there's at least twenty detractors. Maybe in a month it will be infested with biodrones, but for now the general consensus is reasonably intelligent.

The leaving messages on the ground similar to Demon's Souls/Dark Souls sounds cool, but it really isn't. People will just spoil the game for you with those messages. Tell you where traps are, what weaknesses are to bosses you're about to fight. Also, you're talking about keeping servers on all the time and staying online. It's a waste of money for this type of game and a very stupid idea. In Demon's Souls/Dark Souls it doesn't hurt as much because you have pvp and you can help players play through the game. So there are going to be servers anyways. Why go to the trouble in a party and turn based combat RPG doing something like this? It doesn't make sense.

Not to be all doom and gloom, but it's almost as if he's talking just like AAA developers. They always say a bunch of crap to appeal to their "core" players, but then later on they focus on mass market appeal. It seems the same here. We'll know a little later when he does more interviews and see where's his focus, but I can't figure out how he could think that is a good idea.

If he's got extra money, it should be spent on the game (like more C&C in quests and game, more classes/better character development, etc), not multiplayer or social aspects. It's a no brainer.

Didn't you fags just donate ten grand to this steamy shit pile? And Fargo isn't a bro, he looks like a wop cocksucker and he's a shitty actor, judging by his faggoty Kickstarter video. And finally, how the fuck do you people stop tugging your meat sticks to SSI shovelware long enough to make money to donate?

Mysteries abound on the codex.

I have no expectations, but I hope combat will be tolerable and sparse [I'm actually part of the audience that hates TB. Simply because I can't skip uninteresting (read: 99% of the) encounters as easily]. Also good music and writing.

I know about autocombat in games like HoMM, don't think I've ever seen it in a Wasteland-esque RPG. Never mind that it feels cheap and screws you up more often than not. The good way to handle skipping encounters is through alternate routes, secrets, and diplomacy.

Fargo is indeed a shitty actor, but he needed to make that video to promote W2. You're a shitty poster, AND you didn't need to make that post. I give Fargo the edge on this one.

Ever heard of "autocombat"?

Consoletards jerking their gamepads have some 20-25 years of catching up.
A lot of console jRPGs (mainly the grind/story based ones, not the tactical ones) have automatic combat options, and similar ways to skip trash mob combat completely.

So you don't want to "skip 99% encounters", you just want to play shit action games and pretend they are RPGs because the term sounds monocle. I expected as much.

The key part is "jerking their gamepads". Consoletard as in akshun gamer faggot.

Okay, how in fuck's sake did you deduce that from my saying autocombat is crappy and should be replaced with more viable alternatives. Next thing we know my criticism of writing in NWN should be taken to mean that I want to replace its background music with dubstep.

Why the fuck would you want to skip combat? Go play an adventure game then. I want combat in Wasteland to be fun and interesting in the first place with various opponents so I don't fuckin have to skip violently blowing off their body parts.:smug: It never gets old...

I dunno, I have an inborn hatred of trash mobs. Prevents me from playing/replaying a lot of good games. Can't stand the repetition. I only enjoy combat when the encounter is genuinely well done and challenging. Which usually means it's a boss fight of sorts. I do tend to enjoy adventure games, but ultimately they lack a lot of other really good things RPGs have to offer.

It needs an instant teleport between quest stages. It's a very elegant compromise IMO.
