I'm German and am a published author in English (published by other people who paid me money for the right to print my stories, not just self-pubbed), it's not at all odd to me that non-native English speakers would write an entire text-heavy game in English.A question for disco-lovers: how did a group of Estonian (?) writers end up writing an english script?
I'm curious how the process worked. Were they fluent enough in English to just do it themselves, or was there a heavy translation period?
Sadly, only a few even have the potential to be good. Are any of these disco-likes even good? If it's just another Dragon Age-like, Fallout-like, or Cyberpunk-like, then I'm not interested. Speculative fiction has done so much in the literature and roleplaying spaces that video game stories usually just bore me.
I fucking HATE detective games, and shows.
Being able to play visual novels with one hand is a feature, actually
Problem with detective games that they aren't really detective games. Even Disco Elysium isn't true a detective game. You simply play the role of a detective, but that's about it. Shadows of Doubt seems to be the best game of this kind that came out recently (as flawed as it is). After that is The Consuming Shadow (which isn't really meant to be a detective game, but utilizes the deduction elements in a phenomenal way). And after that I couldn't even name a fitting game.I fucking HATE detective games, and shows. It's always so contrived. Disco was OK I guess.
Monk was better.

Obviously, the Codex's favourite cRPG - Witcher 3 - is also the best detective game, with its thrilling investgations powered by Witcher Senses™Problem with detective games that they aren't really detective games. Aw shiieeeet, can I disable that in gameplay options?LA Noire plays a jingle when you pass by a piece of evidence to make sure you inspect it
In a lot of ways it was worse than the second season. Rust's constant "but muh nihilism" shit really fucking wears you out. It's the kinda shit that can only appeal to an angsty high schooler.Season 1 only, though
Witcher 1 had a competent detective quest/plot in the 2 chapter thoObviously, the Codex's favourite cRPG - Witcher 3 - is also the best detective game, with its thrilling investgations powered by Witcher Senses™Problem with detective games that they aren't really detective games. I uninstalled and refunded after my character died trying to retrieve his underwear from a ceiling fan inside 5 minutes.I may actually be one of the very few who has not even played Disco Elysium?
I did that the first time I tried it after getting suckered by the storyfags around here.I uninstalled and refunded after my character died trying to retrieve his underwear from a ceiling fan inside 5 minutes.I may actually be one of the very few who has not even played Disco Elysium?
Retarded "gameplay".
