Or just play a non-pozzed RPG like Black Geyser. More projects is always good though.

Bloodeyes Not that I want to take the wind out of the Codex's sails, and an entirely new game would be awesome, but have you considered modding something we already have access to? Like remaking Siege of Dragonspear. You get a dedicated guy who can pull the game apart and break down what everyone in the team has to do. And then I expect that would be overseen by a general manager type.

So for each chapter/segment of the game they would tell a writer what dialogue needs to be written: NPC questions, banters, context, items, etc. Then if other modders want to get in on the act they can maybe change the encounters a bit. Maybe just to build up a Codex team that can work together.

As I say; I'm sure a totally new game would be great, but if it takes too long, some of the old-timers here might not live to see it such a Codexian masterpiece.

Imagine that.

:troll:

That's reasonable. I'm in favour of a published PnP module as a starter project, but a mod is a viable alternative and more people are (obviously) interested in just going straight for a computer game, reading the comments. I think both ideas should be considered. I think jumping straight into making a game with untested strangers should not be considered. We need small, achievable starter project. Like a one-shot module, a mission mod. Something of that scale. Walk before we can run.

I can poorly code.

Made a mod that turns Griff into a pimp, kind of a Leisure Suit Jedi concept I had running.

Skill 1/10
Follow Through 4/10
Creativity -11

Maybe I should infiltrate the nuDevs instead, my abilities much more resemble theirs. Anyways, I could be available.

I'm very into cock and ball torture
Just play JRPGs...
Most Japanese align with you lot in their political ideas, even the young techies are right wing there.
Imagine liking JRPGs non-ironically, everything in them looks gay or autistic with only few exceptions.

Play something that looks gay, but isn't.
Or play something that is gay, and only looks slightly less gay.
Your choice buddy.

If anyone is serious about this then a game written by a literate chimpanzee will be a standard game eveyone enjoys over woke shit. But of you want true incline, you have to find a great writer. So the Codex should create a writing contest (thread?) where people write a passage or two about established characters we all know and love. And then vote on the best one.

Something like a page of Minsc bantering with various characters in BG. Or some Fallout lore and dialogue with Marcus. Like Marcus telling a story about the old days of a battle between him and a certain Paladin of the Brotherhood of Steel.

Edit: It will also be a good measure any nepotism/coruption within the Codex to see the results and to gauge whether people can get things done within a timeframe.
A game without woke shit is not necessarily good, but preaching politics drags down otherwise good games.

Also, I really like the idea of making a writing competition just to see what people can come up with, being good, bad or even atrocius.

But isn't it really?

The biggest problem is that most of them are just cringe fuel with terribly written and voiced dialogue, that I just can't stand.

I used to be one of 'em "JRPGS? Ewww" niggaz for a spell. Then I'll tell you the game that turned it around for me: Gone Home. I expected this game to do some real scary shit, like ghost hands will fly out of the walls and molest me or I'd see my whole family murdered in a terrible way. Know what the big climax was? My sister was a lesbian. She ran away to be a dyke with her dyke friend.

From that moment the universe exposed itself to me, I saw Miyamoto's face in the clouds and he told me, "Awww, yes, Spider-chan... you must not let Western tomfoolery kill soul. Is very bad. Play Mario?" And while I didn't play Mario I did start to come to one realization: Japanese games that try to look or approach something with a Western edge will always be better than a Western game made on its own soil.

So while everyone is all depressed and shit about WRPGs I'm here with my main nigga aweigh sharing the hottest pawns to rent and throw off a cliff in Dragon's Dogma.

Just run some damn good Dark Sun or Planescape campaigns and oldheads will come flocking. Say leftists aren't allowed and fuck em and that's it. You don't even need to build up your own worlds or rulesets if you just make and enforce your own space and have quality RP.

I don't really agree with you, bit I'll admit there are some really good JRPGs out there like the one you mentioned, Dragon's Dogma, although this seems to be the exception rather than the rule, since the most notorious ones seem to pander to weeaboos.

We should like gather funds to buy Jeff Vogel's engine, modify it, make some sweet art, make story, make game and put Fallout 3 into shame with it.

JRPGs are the most retarded shit on earth and anyone who likes em needs therapy. They are always derivative and horribly trope ridden and those tropes are not even good. The Japanese could not write themselves out of a paper bag and have no literary tradition comparable to the European or American. Nevermind the fact that all characters look the same except for their haircuts. Do you morons actually believe that the Japanese gaming and fiction industry in general somehow supports creativity and innovation more than their western counterparts? The Japanese business world as well as their whole society is conformist as fuck. Having original thoughts is seen as a bad thing and gaming and manga for example are highly commercialised. This is why there are way more western indie devs than Japanese ones.

The only JRPG that I remember liking for its gameplay and story was Dragon Quest 8 but I last played that shit when I was a child so who knows if it actually holds up. As pro-LGBTBBQ as modern cRPGs tend to be, I prefer having fag side characters in an otherwise fine game to having a game predicated purely on aesthetics, clichees and general retardation. Anime and JRPG influence has always contributed to nothing but decline.

You don't have to create new games, just mod the cuckoldry out of theirs. Bonus is that the existence of these mods would also piss off the developers.
EDIT: I can volunteer as a diversity consultant
