What game are you wasting time on?

Underrail - Damn now this is a good game. Exploration, character building, combat, and world design are fantastic. I only have two complaints about the base game. Once your build is at peak efficiency, combat starts to become monotonous. My playthrough was on normal so that might have some effect but I imagine higher difficulties would only delay the inevitable. As for my other complaint, Deep Caverns dragged on and on to the point I wanted to look up solutions just to finish the game. Still a fantastic game which should be played by any fan of turn based combat and exploration.

Underrail Expedition - This expansion started off strong but I am under the impression the developer lost interests half way through. After
Professor Oldfield is kidnapped the story suddenly feels more rushed and quests become more repetitive.
Afterwards all you have to do is explore similar looking ruins, find some data, and report back to base. The invisible timer that seems to be omnipresent was never a problem since the natives only ever invaded twice during the 30 hours I spent playing Expedition. Sure the scenery is amazing and combat is still fun but everything else felt lacking when compared to the base game.

Aw, man, I didn't think A Link to the Past recorded my deaths.

How the fuck do you manage to die that often in ALttP?
Doesn't LttP count saving and quitting as a death?

So Carthago capital is in Syracuse. And Syracuse capital is somewhere in Ras Lanuf.
Lybia capital was located on that isles east of Spain.
And Galic confederation is fighting Rome in Spain.

Wait now that Cargthago is not in Carthagoe province, I should go and conquer it, because it's one of my goals. Also conquer 80 provinces (or how is it called), I have 20. Also Sparta is conquered part of Suebia.

Fallout 2 run is going smoothly.
Got my hands on the Bozar from the Toxic Caves, so I now have some serious firepower.
I might go to the Sierra Army Depot and grab Skynet (getting the Cybernetic Brain requires a Science check of 120+), so I might need just a few more Science manuals and skills to spend.
Then it's on to NCR (and getting the Garden of Eden Creation Kit).

Already mentioned before but after Conquest Dark demo i became interested in survivors-like games. My first pick became Brotato.
ZBNpbLa.png

Already wasted 10,5 hours of my life on it according to steam and i only beaten difficulty level 2.

Playing this now. I'm feeling like a codex old-timer who wants to grumble at constant, endless interruptions to gameplay. Be that fucking cutscenes (yes, in a 2d "pixel art" cheap game) or tutorial pieces or *install this app on your phone* or even in the main thing, while being underwater there're these dolphins so you're suppose to just look at them and unable to do anything. Jesus. Just let me play the damn game.
I've played some hours more and gotta say this game is stupid (very). But kinda addictive. In that sense it reminds me a lot of Lazy Bear Games titles (punch club, graveyard keeper etc). Still, the fact it treats player like retard most of the times is annoying as fuck. Like, you explained at the start that you can dive once at mornings and once at afternoons. After that you're suppose to go on your boat to the sushi restaurant. You cannot dive at evenings until later anyways. And so you get the pop-up message (while at it you cannot do anything, annoying in itself and there's a lot of those in the game) from the chef as "wrap it up and go here now". For the first time it was ok. For the second it was weird. But that shitty message has kept popping up over and over and over again 10 or so "days" straight. And the whole game almost like that.

Brotato is sick, but if you haven't tried it yet, I recommend Deep Rock Galactic Survivor. That's my favourite of all these sorts of things.

"WELCOME TO CAMP NAVARRO!
YOU ARE OUT OF UNIFORM SOLDIER, WHERE IS YOUR POWER ARMOR?"
Just infiltrated Navarro and got the Vertibird plans and the FOB card for the tanker.
I will go back and clear out the camp once I gain a few more levels and am confident I can do it.
Still have more levelling and quests to do before heading out to the Enclave Oil Rig.

By the way, the Rocket Launcher is really underrated.
Only thing is that it works optimally with the Fast Shot trait (which I have, since I am a Big Guns build).
Utterly demolishes anything you point it at (and if not, then it flings them back a few meters, useful against melee enemies).

I will also start a Thief playthrough, since it has been a long time.
I recommend playing at night with a good set of headphones on.

Divinity Original Sin 1: I bought this last Steam sale on a recommendation by a friend. Barely an hour in yet my will to continue has been annihilated. The dialogue is stupendously juvenile, I can ignore quips but the developer seemed hellbent on telling a joke at every available opportunity. Comedy in games is fine provided you are funny which is a trait the writer does not posses. The polymorphing cat making multiple statements about eating fish or drinking milk while in human form is what drove me over the edge. For gameplay, the over abundance of quest markers in what is an easily navigable game world set me off for some reason and led to me uninstalling the game. Sadly Divinity is now outside the two week Steam refund window.

Now imagine that the vast majority of this shit was actually added in the 'enhanced edition', in response to criticism that the writing was bad.

That was awesome. Also it's not a cat, it's a wizard from first game before he was turned permanently into cat because he was using cat form to observe young females in bath, and that witch that turned him into cat was burned alive, and she was needed to reverse the change into the cat. In first game, you saw him after his massive mental trauma caused by consequences of stuff that happened before.

Hardly. I mean, in F1 it's very good because there isn't many armored enemies. But in F2 the main enemy is Enclave and they have very good explosion protection. You also can't constantly shoot 2 times per turn (unless you have two RLs, and action boy x2 + inventory perk) with it which is much worse than having 2-3 machinegun bursts.

The colosseum sucks. Getting annoyed with this level design.
Colosseum was one of the stronger levels tbh. It sounds like a sort of skill issue. I don't think TR1 really missed much with level design, like Doom, Quake or Thief it's one of those few arguably perfect games. The worst part of TR1 was the ending parts, but those weren't like some 1/10 disasterclass, they were just meh compared to the rest of the game.

Well, I figured it out, finally. Where I was supposed to go. Have to jump from that platform behind the wall. Atypical design.

As someone who finished both Pathologic games, can confirm Soul Reaver games (and Defiance) are sleep inducing.

As I said in the LoK thread - Soul Reaver was never that good, constantly laden with undue credit. It's not bad but it doesn't belong in the 90s hall of fame among the many real classics, and even many non-classics. It has a stunning FMV intro, half-decent soundtrack, and cool setting/premise, but is lacking the serious substance expected of an all time great.

Good to see Ezekiel playing OG Tomb Raider. It and its sequel was always one of my primary point of references for comparison to Soul Reaver. Arguably perfect (within the confines of its intended design and scope) indeed...except for the combat and some miscellaneous nitpicks.

Checked out Pacific Drive wondering if it'd make for a good gift for another. It's pretty nice on vibes, but seems like it could get annoying if you don't approach it as a kinda zen game, rather than an efficiency-orientated task list. Real nice seeing full dualsense support on an indie game on PC though.

Finally playing through Hollow Knight. Also strong on vibes, cutesy-dark melancholia with a touch of Tim Burton.

Playing some Thief and the "Down into the Bonehoard" mission is great and very much a dungeon crawling experience filled with traps and undead.
So kind of like Lara Croft.
