So I just found out there's a full english translation patch for the expansion pack of Settlers 2: 10th Anniversary.

One of the best games about indirectly developing a city is Patrician 3. Got it from GoG last year I think, but didn't get into it until recently. The depth of this little game is simply amazing, everything you do counts, from delivering badly needed goods to population to building up new businesses in order to put beggars to work and simulate city growth. Commissioning new ships or upgrading existing ones at the local harbor increases its level of experience and allows it to build new types of ships. And once you reach the rank of councilor you can get elected as mayor, which opens up even more possibilities.

Problem with Anno is the repetitive resource tier system though. Gather up resources to brew beer. Gather up resources to brew better tier 2 beer. Etc.
