Will you climb the mountain or will you ride the turtle? Choose carefully, western man.

The answer is easy: Shores of Hazeron.

The only space adventure sandbox game with a fully seamless universe (with 21 galaxies). No loading screens anywhere and ships are walkable even while they are traveling. Best space game of all time IMO.
Looks...interesting. The character models seem to have certain prosperous aesthetics.
The developer is an old farmer from the midwest. His work on the game is very spotty, but he's working on a new version right now to release on Steam at some point.

Character creator is pretty cool, you can design all kinds of creatures, humanoid, quadraped, or even winged (yes, you can fly).

The game actually has a lot of civilization management. It's not just you as a lone character, you have a whole race to manage. You can direct your people to build stuff, or even travel between your colonies to deliver/mine resources, similar to the X series actually. You begin as cavemen living in tents, then advance your tech to eventually build rockets to explore the moon, your local solar system, then finally develop custom spaceships using a very deep ship editor (or download blueprints) with warp drive to go to different systems.

All planetary bodies are fully simulated (true solar system rotation, day/night cycle depending on sun distance and planet size, and even hemispherical lighting based on sun direction) can be landed on, even gas giants (which have high-end minerals to mine). Although gas giants require a ship with strong hull to withstand high pressure. All of these travel mechanics happen in real-time - no load screens or stupid landing animations. Very cool.

Here's a thread with more screenshots.
