Nice to see the top contenders being a CYOA game, a single player MMO and a "cutscene simulator".

It was intended as sarcasm (after reading this thread). UR, TW3 and AoD are all very, very fine games imho.

1. witcher 3
2. undertale
3. bloodborne

bloodborne was a very solid horror game stylistically, also the best gameplay out of all these. the DLC was especially good.

undertale i liked just a bit more than bloodborne because it did something i've never seen before.

witcher 3 wins because while it has less quality than entries 2 and 3, it has a ton more quantity, i've never seen this amount of good content in a game before.

from the other games in this list the only one i liked was AoD.

I was debating between UnderRail and AoD, it's a tie between them, but ultimately clicked on AoD, though that doesn't mean they aren't tied. They are interesting examples of different design philosophies in the same genre and I find that both work very well. Neither of them are perfect and can be improved substantially, but incline is in their general direction.

I've chosen Age of Decadence. While it has its flaws and rough edges, it manages in doing something actually new in the CRPG world, in that is is really close to what a PnP module can offer in terms of variety of angles inside one single big picture.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
Predictably, it's gotta be Underrail.

As someone who grew up preferring Baldur's Gate to any other CRPG (except Planescape, obviously), Underrail made me realise that turn based combat is actually (imo) legitmately more enjoyable than rtwp will ever be. It also showed me how crafting can be interesting and engaging (thanks WoW!) and how much I really do love invoking my inner sadist; luring unsuspecting npcs into minefields by creating loud noises at the opposite end is incredibly satisfying.
