What kind of RPG gamer are you?

I'll go with 2. I like puzzles in RPGs but for that I'll usually play a good point & click adventure. Combat I could take or leave, though I prefer turn-based over real-time.

I mostly play RPGs for the dialogue, interacting with the world, pushing the story forward, all that stuff.

Guess I'm a combination of 4b and 7. I likes me some action in me RPG and I'm willing to download or make a few mods to get the gameplay as good as possible. I'm definitely not a completionist as there's only been a couple of CRPGs I've actually beaten. Role playing tends to take a back seat to exploring, killing stuff and generally just screwing around.

Hmm... maybe you should add another category for people who don't take their games seriously. You know, the kind of people who just run around attacking friendly NPCs or set a bunch of traps in front of an inn just to see what happens. Or people who spend more time using the physics to make Rube Goldberg devices than actually trying to beat the game.

I like RPGs where you have a definite health meter instead of just ducking into a corner to hide for a few moments. It adds a bit of pressure into the game to not screw up. Generally for the recharging health to be challenging you have to make it so that the player dies extremely quickly.

Ah, so more into the classic RPGs, like Doom, rather than the new shit like Halo?

Hay Wait! You've said many times Halo is your favorite rpg!?!?!

You're a dirty rex-flopper, aren't you?

Put me in at 7/Wanderer (not quite explorer - dont need to see all unique content just cause). Rarely bother with quests, and unless it an animal companion I dont care much for group rpgs. Although TOEE remains an all time favourite, wished I could find another copy. It is usually the purist telling others what is and is not a 'true' rpg.

I really like most rpgs, besides Final Fantasy types, would like to come across a copy of BloodLines now that my computer can play the game.

Where I probably diverge from most is that the one thing I am looking forward to is a d&d/Vanguard/Warhammer classical fantasy setting with advanced combat mechanics. So if Im using a sword then during encounters it would play a lot more like Soul Calibur. That would make me happy, at least :)

I'm a powergamer and I didn't need your retarded waste of ASCII to know that.

Next time you have an hour to spare, do like normal people and masturbate to child porn or something.

Hm I guess I am a lame powergamer. I usually work hard on planning and maximizing my character. When I arrive in a new town I first go to every shop, and spend a lot time there.
I am very concerned about items / crafting / alchemy and making a lot of money (my favorite rps in that respect are Arcanum and Morrowind). I cannot play MotB because items are completely imbal. To sum up, most of my game time is spent finding the optimal, best looking equipment for me and my party.

Wel as I usually play strategy games, I am maybe more after strategies even in an rpg. I know a friend who plays exactly the same way, so I think this style is not so uncommon.

If I had to find a term, I would say I am an optimizer, aka powergamer.

I'm terminally jaded and have basically seen it all, so I only play for the lulz. If it's not funny, it's not interesting. Whether it's funny because the dialog is hilarious, or because enemies scream really hilariously when you set them on fire, isn't important.

My main interest in RPGs is expressing a character that has a life of his own at a certain point in the context of gameplay. I didn't choose how The Nameless One was going to respond to Ravel's question in my last playthrough - rather I knew what he'd say. People that like the same thing probably know what I'm talking about.

Now, that's pretty much the rarest thing in gaming, so my more modest interests are in imagined worlds (which is what I got from Darklands and Morrowind) and in decent and/or novel gameplay.

It's a retarded systematized question; if you want to answer it you just ignore the framework and answer the thread title question.

I'm mainly a lazy rp completionist who also like puzzles and tactical combat. I like completing all quests and used to play many builds but these days I can't be bothered since the difference between classes in most games is so minor.

3a, with a little dash of 6a. I always play an RPG as a fighter, since that I'm shy when it comes to making complex decisions. Although it's not required in my book, sometimes a game with a beautiful atmosphere, or colorful graphics, is always welcome in my book.
