I am about to finish this game. Star Wolves #1 was good, #2 sucked donkey balls, but #3 is good once again, probably the best. The translation is not too bad. There are some minor annoyances, such as a bit of interface lag and a movement indicator that sin't always correct, but otherwise the game plays very smooth.
This is technically an open world game where you can travel around the galaxy, but there's not really much to do, and the game luckily allows you to skip a lot of the traveling and jump directly to the next story location. Level design is probably the game's weakest aspect, especially compared to the first game in the series. Every system is more or less the same, and there are no tactical considerations to the layout of a star system. This is sad because the first game actually had some interesting maps.
One word of warning: You're going to be doing a lot of save-scumming, because it's very easy to lose a ship if it's being chased by more than one aggressor, and ships are really expensive. There are also some irritating scripted sequences where for instance an entire fleet instantly appears in front of you out of nowhere. Scouting ahead and stealth are not very useful in this game.
Also I don't know what Pope Amole was smoking when he compared it to Fallout. Star Wolves is good, but the two are not really comparable.
I had more fun with this game than Stick of Truth and Underrail's Deep Caverns, the two most recent RPGs I played this year. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone, but especially someone who likes RPGs as well as the RTS Homeworld.
